Terrible service and they charge you $60 to clip nails. They charge 2x or more than any other vet for shots. The bad reviews are all true. Avoid this place at all costs.
First timing coming in: 1. Brought in a fecal sample, that was just thrown away (mentioned this to the doctor and asst.) 2. Asked for a bordatella shot, they brought her back to me without administering, doctor forgot to write it down 3. No way! Stay away! I just hung up the phone with this place. The incompetence here is unreal. I called to set up an appointment & the girl who answered, Jackie, was speaking so fast & could barely finish a sentence and wasn't listening, whe I asked her to spell my last name, I did spell it slowly & phonetically, she screwed up & I was giving her the correct spelling abs she put me on hold (maybe it was traumatizing lol) then another lady picked up and she the. Stopped going here a 3 years ago. Due to my current vet being unavailable I decided to give them another try. Putting it mildly Im disappointed. All I wanted was the rx that i discussed with the vet at my AM appointment so I called mid afternoon. End of days rolls by and no news so I called again. The vet didn't bother and went home. They were going to suggest emergency rooms which only made it worse and they wouldn't consider allowing another an on staff vet to write an rx for uti. This is what $500+ buys you at smpmc. We had not seen your pet since 2019 and would not prescribe antibiotics or any other drugs over the phone based on your description of the symptoms. Gasp! We made you come in for an examination of your pet and to have lab tests done to determine which specific antibiotic would help your pet's urinary tract infection get better quicker. Have been going to this place for sometime and will not ever be returning after today. The two girls at the front were constantly talking poorly about customers in the waiting area, loudly enough for them to hear. If you have unlimited time and money, this might be a good place. We brought our dogs to this clinic last year. My girlfriend had brought her new pup here, and when she told me what they proposed to charge for some very standard procedures, I was shocked. It was Covid times, so I gave them a break (though we brought the pup elsewhere.) My own dog had an emergency issues with her eyes, so we brought her in. Kind of expensive. Our dog had a simple eye infection and that could have been treated simply with a medication. Instead they recommended expensive tests for glaucoma and had us pay for two shots that were hundreds of dollars. It just appears that they do not only overcharge but ask for unnecessart tests. Our Dog has no need to get tested for glaucoma. Happily driving a little further to see a reasonable vet. They also charged us another 90 for a follow up that took 1 minute. Seriously! Was a client here for 12 years. Will never be back again. Something has changed in this office and it is no longer the caring, pet-centered establishment it once was. I hope the staff here is using the criticism they're receiving to turn things around and get back to focusing on the welfare of the animals in their care.
Our dog Peanut has been going to SMPMC for over 12 years. This morning March 16th, 2022, she was scheduled for her appointment at 8:30 am with Dr. O'Donnell. Traffic was bad as usual going east at I-10W, at 8:32 am I called the office and let them know we are late and will be there at 8:40, the representative told me they have a 15-minute grace period and as long I get there within 15 minutes it should be fine.
