Been a client of Newport Harbor Animal hospital for over 20 years. The Vets, front staff, Vet techs and kennel staff are the most professional, caring group of care givers around. Dr. Bates has taken over the care of my 18 yrs old Kati . Her care is a challenge but he has stepped in and provides excellent care. Katie's previous Vet was Dr. Wade, who had taken care of Kati for many years, retired, left Kati in very competent hands. We have been faithful clients of NHAH since the early 1960's. The doctors and staff go above making our dog Mattie feel comfortable and calm during her visits. This has been true for all our pets that have been cared for by NHAH. The staff is very helpful and handle all our dogs needs with professional and friendly care. Been going here for years. Multiple dogs have been treated well. Since the pandemic the quality of service has gone way down. They act like their shit doesn't stink now. They charge more than most and that was fine when the service was great. Not so much now. They recently put me into one of the exams rooms and forgot about me. I sat in there for 45 minutes and I finally went out and said hey is the doctor going to see my dog soon. I was told she's on the way. 10 minutes later I left without being seen. Dr. Owens was so great with our dog,Leo. She is a very compassionate and skilled Vet. She realized that Leo was super sensitive to sound when nervous and worked around this in a very caring way when preparing for a kidney biopsy. She explained his condition well. Although, his disease was not ultimately curable, we appreciated her skill and caring manner.

We have been loyal customers for two years. Monday night was every dog mom's worst fear, my dog had an allergic reaction, short breath, face swelling. It's 6:52pm I live 1.6 miles away. I call our trusted vet, Newport Harbor Animal Hospital I alert them of the situation, I am told come. I rush my dog into the car and head over there as fast as possible. We understand your frustration, but we do close at 7pm Monday through Friday. Our staff and doctors leave promptly at 7pm so we did not have anyone to treat your pet after that time. Our hospital insurance does not permit us to let anyone in after hours, which in this case was 7pm. A doctor and staff did wait for you until 7pm, and had everything ready since you said you were pulling in our parking lot at 6:52pm but never showed up. I cannot even begin to describe how much I love the doctors at Newport Harbor Animal Hospital (NHAH)....but I'll give it a go: NHAH is top notch when it comes to treating your fur babies. Whether it's a routine visit, senior exam, dental cleaning, or testing, the doctors are extremely informative, honest, and warm. My four small dogs have been patients of NHAH for the past 13 years. Very friendly service! My cat and I are new patients, and I was so impressed they were able to take me in on a Saturday!! (no appointment) The Dr and assistant were so good with my cat. They checked her thoroughly and the staff was so nice answering my questions.

I bring both of my baby cats here. I've always been able to bring in when an illness arises. Staff is amazing and personable you can tell they love what they do. Dr. McDaniel is amazing, very caring and always follows up on his patients. He does not brush off any symptoms. I will never take my babies anywhere else.

NHAH has changed for the worst. Been a client for more than 10 years but there is no longer a personalized touch and the focus seems to be on upselling procedures. I'm disappointed to end such a long relationship.
