We recently moved to the Philly area and needed to find a new vet. All the people we spoke to mentioned Hickory as great, but expensive. Most said that for anything serious they go to Hickory and save their more local vet for vaccinations and routine stuff. Unfortunately we had to test this out. Our dog ruptured his cruciate ligament in his back knee and was in obvious pain on a Saturday afternoon. The ER was very easy to deal with. The front desk people were extremely friendly. The waiting area was very clean and spa... read more

In looking back over the past six years of bringing my dogs to Hickory Vet, I realized that the problem with this place goes beyond the high prices, the occasionally rude staff, and the refusal to approve online pharmacies to fill prescriptions. The problem is a lack of trust. Hickory Vet pushes their doctors and staff to run more tests and more specialist visits even when there's no real need for it. Ultimately, as a pet owner you either just pay extortionate rates or are left wondering if your pet is actually getting ap... read more

I'm a member of one of the largest dog training and canine sports clubs in the region, and every time I've asked other members for advice on which vets they like in the area, I've gotten a lengthy list of good options from them. They then usually follow up with "Just don't go to Hickory". I've then usually kept my mouth shut since I was using Hickory as my dogs' veterinarian. I didn't love Hickory, but I didn't see the problems yet either. However after nearly 5 years of going to Hickory, I'm done. I finally understand what... read more

Kozar made multiple medication errors and then caused an acute lung injury in my dog on Sept 23 2023. She then stood by and did absolutely nothing to even try to save him. Hickory has hired bbc law firm in court and all they do is lie to judges to try to get out of legal trouble. My expert has said kozar was not only negligent but grossly negligent in the death of double stuff. During depositions, kozar admits to not being allowed to take lunch breaks which is against federal law. She also admits to not being competitive eno... read more

Ugh. What a nightmare this has been. Let me start by saying that I DO recommend Dr. Laurie Bergman (behaviorist), but I DO NOT recommend Dr. Erica Snihur or Dr. Tiffany Kay. We were referred to Dr. Bergman by our behavior mod/cooperate care trainer due to our dog's fear, anxiety and aggression issues, which include grooming. Long story short, Dr. Bergman recommended that we make a sedated grooming appointment through Hickory, so we did. Our first experience, particularly with Dr. Snihur, was terrible and I made sure I re... read more

Awful. Spoke to a "nurse" by the name of Wanda who answered the phone. We asked if we should bring our dog in and if she considered his symptoms an emergency. She was no help, rude, and literally couldn't tell us what COULD be wrong with our dog, She was incompetent and clueless and even hung up the phone on us!!!

I called about getting an appointment for our dog as he had a sudden and severe limp on the same leg he had TPLO surgery about a year and a half ago. They scheduled me for the next day but when we arrived the vet acknowledged she was unqualified to asses or even make an Xray. There was apparently an error when they scheduled me as I gave all the pertinent information regarding the likely need for an Xray etc. but they wanted me to schedule and pay for a second visit with the "correct veterinarian". This was unacceptable and ... read more

This place is absolutely TERRIBLE do not bring your pet here. They charged us 7k to put our puppy down that they should have saved. I cannot express enough how unprofessional and inexperienced this group of monkeys is. Again, please do not bring your pet here.
