Finding the right hospital with the right doctors is not always an easy task. At Hickory, we realize the frustration many pet owners feel when choosing a veterinary hospital. So we decided to make it easy for our clients. We took a primary care veterinary hospital with dedicated general practitioners and added experienced specialists in surgery, oncology, cardiology, radiology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation and acupuncture. Then we went one step further and made the medical facility open 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 7... read more

Get directionsI am so impressed with this practice. I was a Vet Tech for 9 years so I know the business. I'm now retired. Recently my 15 year old cat, Harley, took a turn for the worse and when she stopped eating I knew it was her time. Blessedly this practice is 24-7 so I was able to help her on a Sunday. The staff was very kind and respectful and treated us well. Harley was allowed to die with dignity. I opted for private cremation and was also impressed with this aspect. I picked up her cremains in a very nice Hickory Run bag with our ... read more
We brought our senior pup here for a biopsy and 2 surgeries last year when we were new to the area and our vet in NYC could not perform the biopsy for 1.5 months. We researched vets in the area and decided on Hickory due to the doctor's backgrounds, services offered, and reviews for medical care. Thankfully they were able to take our boy quickly. Both times we had great experiences with Dr Dobbins. She clearly explained what they found and our options. Dr. Dobbins communicated with us during and after surgery, answered a... read more
We had an emergency this past weekend and our own Vet's office had closed for the day. I called several places who would not even consider an appointment because we were "new." When I called Hickory, they were very accommodating and told us to come right over. They came right out and took our dog inside. Communication, I think was great and the Vet called a few days later to check on Teddy. I was very much pleased with the staff and the vet.
The whole team at Hickory -- from the friendly and welcoming ladies at the front desk, to the patient and caring techs and assistants, to the AMAZING doctors -- is just phenomenal. When two of my pets, Katie and Monkey, had some serious health challenges, Dr. Swann and Dr. Lands in particular, were phenomenal in their thoroughness, diligence with follow-up and patience in answering my questions.Their level of service is the best I've ever seen in Vet care, and Dr. Lands in particular will take the time -- even on his days of... read more
We recently moved to the Philly area and needed to find a new vet. All the people we spoke to mentioned Hickory as great, but expensive. Most said that for anything serious they go to Hickory and save their more local vet for vaccinations and routine stuff. Unfortunately we had to test this out. Our dog ruptured his cruciate ligament in his back knee and was in obvious pain on a Saturday afternoon. The ER was very easy to deal with. The front desk people were extremely friendly. The waiting area was very clean and spa... read more
Awful. Spoke to a "nurse" by the name of Wanda who answered the phone. We asked if we should bring our dog in and if she considered his symptoms an emergency. She was no help, rude, and literally couldn't tell us what COULD be wrong with our dog, She was incompetent and clueless and even hung up the phone on us!!!
I'm a member of one of the largest dog training and canine sports clubs in the region, and every time I've asked other members for advice on which vets they like in the area, I've gotten a lengthy list of good options from them. They then usually follow up with "Just don't go to Hickory". I've then usually kept my mouth shut since I was using Hickory as my dogs' veterinarian. I didn't love Hickory, but I didn't see the problems yet either. However after nearly 5 years of going to Hickory, I'm done. I finally understand ... read more
I called about getting an appointment for our dog as he had a sudden and severe limp on the same leg he had TPLO surgery about a year and a half ago. They scheduled me for the next day but when we arrived the vet acknowledged she was unqualified to asses or even make an Xray. There was apparently an error when they scheduled me as I gave all the pertinent information regarding the likely need for an Xray etc. but they wanted me to schedule and pay for a second visit with the "correct veterinarian". This was unacceptable and ... read more
This place is absolutely TERRIBLE do not bring your pet here. They charged us 7k to put our puppy down that they should have saved. I cannot express enough how unprofessional and inexperienced this group of monkeys is. Again, please do not bring your pet here.
