About this business

HealthcareVeterinarians

Finding the right hospital with the right doctors is not always an easy task. At Hickory, we realize the frustration many pet owners feel when choosing a veterinary hospital. So we decided to make it easy for our clients. We took a primary care veterinary hospital with dedicated general practitioners and added experienced specialists in surgery, oncology, cardiology, radiology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation and acupuncture. Then we went one step further and made the medical facility open 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 7... read more

Dr. Debra Eisenstein was my dog's regular vet. When I called to make an appointment with Dr. Eisenstein, the front desk told me she was no longer with them. Dr. Eisenstein was a great vet, my dog loved her and she always gave us the best care. I asked the front desk person where Dr. Eisenstein was now practicing. The person said they didn't know. I asked her to ask the other staff. The other staff didn't know. She then told me that no one in the hospital knew where Dr. Eisenstein had gone. So I asked to be connected to a sup... read more

I'm not one to usually leave reviews, especially not bad ones.. However beware if you're going to take your pet here. I have been trying to get a issue resolved for over 2 weeks now to no avail. Near impossible to hear back from anyone when I've called the office multiple times and sent a lengthy email and still nothing. My cat had a fecal exam almost 2 weeks ago, I called for results multiple times and was finally able to get some sort of information from a woman at the front desk over the phone. She was extremely vague and... read more

Hickory has been our bet for 2 years and we have been wanting to change for a while. I will certainly be changing vets. First, they are very expensive and they no longer allow their pharmacy to ok prescriptions online for places like chewy where you can get a discount. This just makes it tougher on the pet owner to get the meds or you have to buy them from hickory. Second, you still are not allowed in with your pet Since covid started. They told me on the phone my dog was overweight, which makes me wonder if they are really ... read more

I was a happy customer since 2012 and the transfer of ownership led to predatory business practices. Awful. I am compelled to write after they forced services and medications on me that i didn't want or agree with and then I saw a woman break down in tears in the lobby for a bill 3x what she expected. lots of extra tests and fees. Awful and disgraceful.

We had a 7:30 appt with a cardiologist for our cat. We waited in the parking lot for over an hour. After we called several times we were told the cardiologist was running late. No one initiated a call to let us know this in the first place. It was almost 8:45 when someone came out to the parking lot to get our pet. Consequently, we waited another 45 minutes for the tests and the results. Again no one kept us informed. We did not leave the parking lot until 9:45, and did not get home until 10:15 PM! Thankfully our cat seemed ... read more

If anyone has ever lived through their pet ingesting antifreeze, you can understand the stress, fear and anxiety involved with saving your pet's life. Our story began in Broome County, New York, where we rushed our West Highland Terrier after he licked antifreeze that my late father left out in his basement. After being on hold with poison control for an hour waiting to receive a case number and call back number, our puppy was initially treated at an emergency veterinary hospital in Vestal, New York, then we rushed our puppy... read more

Not the right vet for small animals! I have a hamster who was sick with a terrible UTI. I called Hickory and they said they treated small animals. I made an appointment with Dr Evans who did a very quick examination, didn't ask me any questions, and then prescribed him an antibiotic for 21 days. She didn't give me enough of the medicine, so I had to drive back a week later and get more, which the woman on the phone was incredibly reluctant to give him. Dr Evans did not give me any information on what to do if the antibiotics... read more

WAYYY overpriced and unpleasant stuck-up staff, especially front desk. They don't care about helping your pet, only about how much money they will make. The most recent time, I called to ask BASIC questions and they simply could not have been more rude. If this was their plan to push patients away, they are doing it right.

Have been going to Hickory for quite awhile, despite their outrageous prices. Recently we spent over $6,000.00 for a TPLO which turned into a disaster and Hickory was not willing to take care of, albeit when I talked to the vet who did the the surgery she didn't even remember doing the surgery. Nancy Brown who owns this facility has never anything but mean. Thank goodness we found Metropolitan Veterinary Associates. The have taken care of the infected plate. They removed it and we are now on the road to the healthy pet w... read more
