Finding the right hospital with the right doctors is not always an easy task. At Hickory, we realize the frustration many pet owners feel when choosing a veterinary hospital. So we decided to make it easy for our clients. We took a primary care veterinary hospital with dedicated general practitioners and added experienced specialists in surgery, oncology, cardiology, radiology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation and acupuncture. Then we went one step further and made the medical facility open 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 7... read more

Get directionsFront desk staff is rude and judgmental. To be fair, I do not envy their job. They are dealing with people at their worst everyday, and I can imagine that is grating. That being said, it seemed unnecessarily mean. The front desk crew sat behind the counter and loudly judged each person who called in with an emergency. After hanging up, I heard them base their judgements off of zip codes, which seemed low. Every time I needed to speak with them (checking in, checking out), they were extremely rude and seemed inconvenienced by... read more
I lost one of my best friends today. I had taken mr fluffy to an urgent care, my regular vet, and a vet er over the past 2 weeks and he was getting progressively worse. I was advised to see a veterinary neurologist and Hickory was able to see him the next day, whereas the places that the er referred me to were not able to see him for weeks or months. Because they were so accommodating I was able to do what was best for my cat. I never would have known what was actually wrong and been able to decide what to do without their h... read more
Horrible practice. The receptionist was cold and callous regarding the death of a beloved dog. All they care about is profit.
I would not recommend this vet. Picking up the ashes of a beloved pet is one of the saddest experiences a family can have. They handed the ashes to us without a word. No "I am sorry". No "condolences". Very disappointing.
i was a client of Hickory veterinary hospital for 40 plus years. Sadly this past year their most experienced docto (Dr Stephanie Dobbins) missed a large solid mass on my doodle rescue. mass found by groomer was removed after it had invaded the muscle leaving him lame. now Dobbins located/ large rectal masses on my 15 y/o blind mill survivo, she quickly dismissed her stating she is old and let her go That tumors are cancerous (no biopsy, no ultrasound) 2nd opinion at Metropolitan proved that my 15 y/o would have died a horrib... read more
We recently visited Hickory Vetrinary Hospital numerous times to have our female West Highland Terrie examined and bred by Dr. M. Goodman. All the staff were very friendly from the moment we walked into the lobby. We were at their facility three times in one week and each time it was a pleasure to meet their staff. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone else who needs caring veterinary care.
I wish I could give praises here...but, I can not. My pup had a traumatic event two days prior and needed and ultrasound. What I didn't foresee when dropping her off at requested time, that they would not get to her for the test for 8 hrs.!! Then, the Dr. did not have the decency to talk to me about the results. I never saw the vet only the tech...who was sweet but I felt bad for her to have to make excuses for the time frame and the Dr not talking with me. I would of been fine if they called me to pick her up and bring her ... read more
We took out cat to Hickory on Sunday December 12th. He was lethargic not eating well and having animals for 45 years I knew something wasn't right. They advised us to leave him in the hospital for several days wanting to do x-rays, blood work and an ultrasound. We were given an initial estimate between $3,500.00 - $4,500.00 which I thought was for up to 5 days, they insist 2-3 days. They performed all the tests and told us the cat was diabetic and his pancreases and liver would heal and but they respond to the insulin well i... read more
I thought a long time before giving this review but I opted to do it to warn others looking for a new vet. This place was completely unprofessional. I took my poodle in for an eye assessment. I had called prior and told them what was going on with her and that she seemed to be losing her vision because she had cataracts. They took her back and she was only gone for a few minutes. The doctor then came out and told me that he no longer treated Cataracts and I needed to go somewhere else for a special piece of equipment to furt... read more
