I took my cat to Hickory for the ophthalmologist. I was told the price would be $205. My cat was with the doctor for less than 5 minutes. I was in the waiting room. When I went to pay the bill it was $365. The $205 was apparently just for the consult. Then they charged $85 for a glaucoma exam (topology) and $75 for eye drops that are available online for $14.99. I asked to speak with the clinic manager. She did not call me that day. I called the next day and left another message and also sent an email. I have not heard anyth... read more

We took our cat to Hickory on Sunday December 12th. He was lethargic not eating well and having animals for 45 years I knew something wasn't right. They advised us to leave him in the hospital for several days wanting to do x-rays, blood work and an ultrasound. We were given an initial estimate between $3,500.00 - $4,500.00 which I thought was for up to 5 days, they insist 2-3 days. They performed all the tests and told us the cat was diabetic and his pancreases and liver would heal, they said they respond to insulin well in... read more

Took my cat in for two issues an eye infection which he was already seen for by another vet and sudden drooling/wobbliness/lethargy (which is what I came in for). They only examined his eye and didn’t even talk to me about why he was randomly drooling or wobbly…. Had to go back the very next day for the main issue of drool/wobbliness and they still didn’t give me a clear answer. The one receptionist was unprofessional and had me pay early and before I left I still owed money- why not charge me all at once? Also, what got me... read more

We have gone here for 16 plus years!!! It has been excellent up until the recent ownership change. Their new policies are terrible, they have no vets available overnight anymore, the new staff is rude and uninformed, etc. Very disappointing.

If Judy works for you guys, I hope all your clients know she thinks they’re irresponsible losers who shouldn’t have pets if they can’t afford them. It’s one thing if you truly can’t afford the animal, it’s another thing if you at one time were able to and then fell on hard times and wasn’t able to get care credit or the whole amount and you didn’t have the rest to pay upfront. Very sad to see someone who’s supposed to have compassion for animals doesn’t have compassion for humans who inevitably fall on hard times.

This hospital is a disgrace! My sister came home tonight to find her cat dead and Hickory wanted an emergency fee of $110 to bring the remains in, plus $365 for a private cremation. Talk about playing on the sympathy of grieving pet owners. I called Steinbach's, where I take my animals and they were so much more humane and way more realistic in their pricing. In the end, it's all about doing the right thing for our animals, but it's also about not being taken advantage of in a time of crisis and great sadness. Shame on you ... read more

In my opinion, I will never bring another animal to this place. We brought our dog here last week (it was a friday night and our regular vet was closed), he couldn’t stop throwing up and was having problems going to the bathroom. He was admitted overnight and the next day Dr. Dobbins called and told us they believed he had a diaphragmatic hernia and that surgery was necessary, but there was the risk our pup wouldn’t make it, not to mention the surgery would cost thousands of dollars. My boyfriend and I agreed to go through w... read more

Stop overcharging. No vets recommend you as an ER. Just despicable to take advantage of people. Move to the main line if you want to rob people of their hard earned money
