I moved to the area over a year ago and driving to my dog's previous vet was too far. Had a scare where my dog was pooping and vomiting excessively so I called crying. They calmed me down to monitor him and helped with an appointment in the morning which saved me money from an "emergency" visit. Doctor was super friendly and knowledgeable and provided options. We have used Town and Country Animal Hospital in Fairfax for over 10 years. We have never needed emergency service but one our beagles developed some frightening issues late on a Friday night. I remembered that their sister hospital on Columbia Pike is 24 hrs. So I called around 11:30 pm. First, after giving my name they pulled up our pets records immediately. It's a pleasure to take my animals here. Everyone is so pleasant . We saw Dr. Nguyen this time and he was lovely! He was so sweet with my dog, informative, friendly and humorous.

Not impressed with them. Went in, first time, and ended waiting for 1.5 hours with no updates. Only reason why I got one was because I asked, and told "He is next." 20 minutes later, a doctor came out stating "Shift change. Don't know what's going on."

I have been a customer here for years but I left due to my fair share of ups & downs with the staff & it is taking me a long time to write this review. My dog goes to different practice because he was already on a plan when I adopted him and it made more sense to keep him on that plan, but my cats (& previous dogs) were patients here & we used to board our dogs here too. As a veterinary assistant with over three years of experience working in animal hospitals, I can confidently say that Dr. Oleg Khomutets demonstrated a concerning lack of competence and professionalism. It felt as though profit was prioritized over patient care, particularly when dealing with elderly clients who may not fully understand medical decisions. Reading other peoples comments here breaks my heart. My heart was broken when my baby was injured being seen... and crushed when he passed away. I would love to join hands with others and all paw parents who wish this place would close down and a new more professional establishment for pet care would open. (NEW DOCTORS, owners, and STAFF) I can't speak for all, but for myself and few I know, we just want answers as to WHAT HAPPENED. I went to Columbia Pike Animal Hospital in 2023, with my cat about his ears, the first doctor lied saying she examined him, when she did not, my cat would not come out of his carrier, just lies. I returned Saturday 11/29/25 out of pure desperation , worrried about my cat. The doctor was this short lady , I think her name is Niharika Verma, that is what's on my paperwork.
