Today I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Jones and my puppy Minnie. Everybody in the office was truly amazing, their knowledge and expertise and their compassion is above what you normally see. Minnie was not in any way nervous while we were there and that was a huge sign that we knew we were in the right place. And I am so happy to return to Dr. Jones and the new staff at this location since my return to living in Santa Monica. I highly recommend them.
I've been going to Santa Monica pet medical for a about 4 years now, although I'll admit they are probably a bit pricey, they've always shown genuine care for my dog. The first time I ever went the vet made sure not to note that my dog had a rash because she knew I was getting pet insurance and it would raise the price so she took it off the record. Despite not being a patient of SMPMC for nearly 7 years due to a move to Northern California, I had to contact them recently to help provide medical records for my dog for an upcoming international trip given some recent changes by the EU for an International Health Certificate. The staff was so kind and understanding over the phone, and escalated my needs to the owners right away in order to turn around the necessary paperwork quickly so that our documents for travel could be approved! I love Santa Monica Pet Medical Center so much. My cat & I saw Dr. Katherine Hillebrand very regularly for my senior cat for a year & the only reason we're leaving is because I'm moving out of Southern California. Dr. Hillebrand is kind, accessible to questions by phone & email, very knowledgeable and genuinely adores animals. She breaks complicated issues down and helps you really learn more about your pet and their health. She also caught my cat's cancerous tumor and I will forever be grateful to her. I was really scared and cautious when I came in due to the recent reviews. But I had a pleasant and very normal experience. I had recently adopted a 7.5 year old dog and brought him in for a full exam. Dr Hernández was very pleasant and seemed to really care. She did recommend a few products which others could see as an upsell but I felt they were logical recommendations based on my dog's health concerns. Switching to this Vet was one of the best decisions we ever made! We switched to SMPMC when we moved to the Santa Monica area and couldn't be happier. Started bringing my 7 year old lab here after the local VCA never had any appointments available. The front desk is friendly and specifically, Dr. O'Donnell has been just wonderful. My dog has a history of cancer and had a recent scare and she has called to follow up and check on him more than any other general vet we've had. She answers all my questions and addresses my concerns and seems very knowledgeable. Often times she calls after 6 pm which shows me that she really cares and wants what is best for my fur baby. I could not be more pleased with my experience today. I noticed a hematoma on my dog's ear on a Sunday night. My regular vet said the first available appointment was in 12 days, so I called around to find somewhere to see her sooner. SMPMC had an appointment available on Monday. The staff was pleasant, the vet was knowledgeable and kind, and they treated my dog in the exam room with me so she would be more comfortable and not be around other dogs, as she's fearful.
