I am extremely disappointed on lakeside. I'm a military spouse and when I lived in Cameron NC I would take my dogs here and loved it. Even after I moved in September of 2020, I would drive from Virginia all the way to lakeside to drop off my Akita to there boarding because I liked them so much and surika knows the place and they have taken such good care of her I didn't mind making the drive, which is 3hrs to get there. They were able to see my dog on short notice one day after I when unable to get an appointment anywhere else. He's been a back a few times since and have had nothing but good experiences.
If you're looking for a vet that cares more about SCAMMING your money over the care of you and your animal, this is the place for you. I took my turtle here for a surgical procedure and was figuring out how much the cost would be for the initial exam, the surgery, medicine, etc. I was charged $94 for the initial exam when over the phone they said $89, whatever right only $5. seriously an awful place DONT TAKE UR ANIMALS HERE!!! i took my cat here a few months ago for an exam all was good, before scheduling my cat spay i called and asked how much it was for a female spay the lady over the phone tells me between 300-350 and i was fine with that. then i ask them before her surgery and make sure that it would still be 300-350 because i got a "high end" estimate that included things that wasn't needed which was $672 total. i get a call halfway through the day saying she needed to go over pricing with... read more
For fourty years, I have owned cats and dealt with veterinarians. My experiences have been varied, but my experience with this veterinarian has been unique. Seldom have I been more dissatisfied. I brought 3 cats to be seen on a scheduled appointment. I arrived promptly or maybe slightly early. I was told to sit and wait, which I did for approximately an hour. incompetent staff and management - They gave me a receipt with the wrong vaccine dates after going there to get my dog's vaccines up to date to board him. When I got to the place the day to board him we noticed the dates on the receipt were not updated to reflect that my dog had gotten the shots a few weeks earlier. We had to call and verify he had the shots. I paid for the shots, he got the vaccines, but the staff was to incompetent to update the paperwork that I asked for and to give me a copy so I would have updated reco... read more
I can't speak to how they are for dogs and cats, but I wouldn't recommend bringing your turtle here. I brought my turtle in for a visit and our appointment was at 9 AM. The reason for the visit was because my turtle was not interested in food. After bringing him back and weighing him and putting him in a tiny water bath, we waited to see the vet for about 30 minutes. Went in because my kitten had what I thought to be pink eye, the vet tech was rude and condescending until the actual vet came in, she then completely changed her tune. They charged me 75 for "exam" for each of my 2 cats, the only way they examined them was looking into the sick kittens eye for a couple minutes. They gave me an ointment to put in her eye that hasn't been working and has actually made it worse! MY DOG DIED IN THEIR CARE! My dog went in to have her leg removed and she died. She made it through the surgery and anesthesia according to them and they left her overnight with out proper care to die alone in a cage. They were negligent and failed to provide adequate care for a post surgical operation. My dog would be alive right now had I not walked her through those doors.
