Dr. Gonzalez was very nice and helpful. I came in for a normal exam which was inexpensive compared to our normal Vet in Virginia Beach. She was kind and had a gentle touch for my demon dog. The receptionist who first welcomed me wasn't very warm, she looked at me as if she didn't know why I was there. Then another receptionist came, very bubbly and made my new transition easier. Overall nice place

We have not lived in Richmond very long so I can't speak to the cost of the care we received as being higher than other vets in the city. I can speak to the care that we received for our 14 year old westie. It was outstanding. We were walk-ins and we were taken in a timely manner. We felt like our dog was treated like we would treat him and the decisions for his care were well made. Dr. Fustukjian was well spoken and very kind. We were very pleased with the care and service we received.

The bottom line is: I would never recommend Lakeside Animal Hospital to anyone. There is not one positive thing I can think of their establishment. I don't think my animals have EVER been seen at their scheduled appointment time and it seems that waiting an hour is the norm there, which is completely unacceptable. They lack both the expertise and equipment necessary to treat their patients and it seems Dr.Gonzalez prefers to just refer you to another doctor rather than actually put in the time and effort needed to treat you... read more

I do not recommend Lakeside to anyone. I have been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and think of one positive thing to say about them, but I am at a loss. They were impersonal, lacked a sense of urgency and are very money hungry. My dog had not been feeling well so I brought him in one day. I waited for an hour before anyone came out to say anything to me. When they finally did, they explained they were busy and that it would be a little while longer. Dr. Gonzalez is the worst veterinarian that I have ever been to. She saw my 15 year old dog for lameness. I was never called back with my lab results. I called her multiple times and it took her days to call me back. I have asked around since and everyone that I have spoken to with the exception of one person ( they went there once for just vaccines), has had only negative things to say about her and the way she practices medicine. Lakeside Animal Hospital preys on the fact that you want the very best for your animal and will ensure that you pay for services that are either not needed or, even worse, services that they do not have the actual expertise to use. They know this, and will do anything to stop you from going somewhere else for a second opinion. Our cat was very sick. They wanted to run an ultrasound and x-rays to find out what was wrong. Just left this place. I scheduled an appointment a week ago, took off work, packed up my dog and cat for our first trip to this vet office. When we arrived, they said they didn't have us marked down for an appointment. This is completely ridiculous because I spent 10 minutes on the phone with them giving my information. If they can't even schedule an appointment, what can that say about the rest of their business?

I used to go there to have my dog and 2 cats get their annual exams, shots, etc, however after multiple times waiting for my appointment for more than an hour (I always get the last appointment), I had enough and changed vets. However because of their operating hours Lakeside is my alternative to the VEC when my regular vet doesn't open until 9 am. One emergency I had was with my cat.
