On a Thursday we found our 2 mini rex rabbits paralyzed in their cage. I immediately called Lakeside Animal Hospital after they were referred by another animal clinic who didn't treat rabbits. Panicked but In good faith I called there and was told the doctor is in with a patient but I'll be called back. It took almost an hour! We then we told we could come by. We spent over 3 hours there and the doctor told us that our rabbits might have eaten a neuro-toxin. Apparently she had researched the symptoms on google and gave us a ... read more

When I got my puppy I was looking around for vets to take him to and stumbled across this one because it's close to my house. I've taken him there for all his puppy shots and I haven't had an issue. They are really sweet when I'm there and always sent you notifications when it's time for the next appointment. It is a bit pricey for my taste. lol but I'm a first time puppy owner so I don't know how much shots should be on average, but I've spent about $120-140 a trip. I did get a price on neutering and it was way too high so ... read more

I've taken my dog to Lakeside Animal Hospital since 2005 and unfortunately find myself in a position to find another vet. My issue is not so much with his care but with how the practice has been run, especially over the last couple years. We saw Dr. Barnes for years and received great care; she knew my dog and listened to my concerns, which is why I was willing to continue paying higher prices even if just for a check-up. After she left, the turnover of vets and other staff in this practice just reached a level I could no lo... read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. Not long ago I took my cat here because it was right up the street from us. We walk in, not only was it gloomy but the lady at the front desk wasn't very informative and pretty rude. But that's only that beginning. After waiting 45 minutes in a basically empty place, the nurse came back with an estimate of almost $1000. Which confused us considering our cat only had a small eye cold. So when we questioning them about the estimate they realize they charged us for an entire bottle but was only suppos... read more

Rude. Went there for an emergency Saturday, was told we couldn't be helped because the don't take appointments on Saturday. Ok then why are you open? So glad I ended up going elsewhere anyway after reading these terrible reviews!

Moved to Richmond last year and began taking my 8 year old rabbit here. He began urinating blood, a sure sign of bladder stones or calcium deposits. Lakeside charged me for at home urinalysis (very unreliable) and an ultrasound. Urine results came back clean. Nothing wrong. Ultrasound was blurry but "there might be something here but we cant be sure." Less then a week later, my bunny was catatonic and rupturing blood from his bladder. Lakeside could not fit us in for an emergency appointment. We drove two hours to the near... read more

After being with the clinic for many years; often receiving subpar service due to numerous staff changes and a general lackadaisical attitude of office staff we have finally decided that enough is enough. The staff are unprofessional and the doctors have increasingly been a disappointment. On numerous occasions we have been charged in excess for services. In fact I have found the Carytown emergency centenarian clinic far cheaper and the staff more professional. We have stayed with this clinic due to convenience and animal f... read more

I wish I could give zero stars as that is what this place deserves. I have been a client for many years, but things have gotten worse over the past few years. On our last visit to this animal hospital, I found the receptionist and staff to be rude. While we were waiting in a hot examining room, I was sweating and my poor elderly dog was panting. I had to ask for them to give my dog water and turn on the a/c in the room. Over the past year, each and every prescription has been messed up and my pharmacy has had problems... read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. To put it simply, don't bring your reptiles, or likely any animal, to this clinic. I took my bearded dragon Muggle, here after he seemed to lose his appetite for a bit. He appeared healthy and seemed active for the most part, so I honestly just assumed we would be in and out as more of a checkup. No so. Our vet thought bloodwork and an X-ray were necessary. I wanted to do what was best for my pet so I agreed. This is where everything went really wrong. My pet was his normal sel... read more
