On 7/1/26, I brought my dog to Truvet for an emergency visit. They ran lots of tests and determined that she had eaten rocks! Nothing passed overnight, so surgery was performed the following day, 7/2/26. On 7/3 I was asked to come and see if I could get her to eat, so they could discharge her. I did, she did, and we went home. Then I began an exhaustive internet search to see why she would do this, and how to prevent it (Spoiler: muzzle). Other info suggested mineral deficiencies and other medical causes. So, when I made an... read more

Business response:

Thank you for sharing your experience. We're very glad your dog recovered well after surgery, and we appreciate your kind words about the care she received during her hospitalization. We are sorry to hear that your follow-up visit left you feeling frustrated. Your July 15 visit was scheduled as a technician appointment for routine suture removal, which is standard after surgery. These appointments are designed for technician-performed procedures and do not include time with a veterinarian for a medical consultation. The bl... read more

I called to get an an emergency appointment for an MRI for my dog. My other senior dog died THAT MORNING and I was worried about my other dog getting worse. There was a suspected hole in his spinal disc that could be leaking and causing all of his health issues. I was instructed to bring him in right away. 3 hours later of waiting we are seen by the vet, and she tells me that they do NOT have an MRI machine but just a CT machine. But that they are going to take a urine culture and prescribe him antibiotics. Because I w... read more

Business response:

Emily, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry for the loss of your other dog and recognize that you were navigating an incredibly emotional day. While we cannot know what is happening in our clients' personal lives when they arrive, we strive to treat every client with compassion, patience, and respect. We would like to provide some context for those reading this review. As part of our review of your concerns, I personally reviewed the recorded phone conversation leading up to your visi... read more

I would like to update my review by saying I just got a phone call from the manager Julie calling on behalf of the owner (per Julie). She was very upset that I left a bad review. I let her speak and even asked her if she felt she had said what she wanted to say. she said Yes. I said can I talk about my experience? She then proceeded to ignore my questions, talk over the top of me and defend. When I pointed this out, she ended the call, cancelled my pre-paid appointment with their specialist (who is the owner) that I have bee... read more

Business response:

Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how stressful it can be when your pet is not feeling well and you are waiting to be seen. Emergency veterinary hospitals operate differently from general practice clinics. Rather than seeing patients in the order they arrive, we use a medical triage system similar to human emergency rooms. This means that pets experiencing life-threatening conditions must be seen immediately, while patients with less critical conditions may need to wait or be placed on a waitlist until a ... read more

I used to think that this place was great but I ran my puppy over there for help since her vets office was closed and since she was vomiting and seemed to have a reaction to medication she was on and when I carried her in the girl at the front desk tells me while my puppy is throwing up in their lobby " I'm sorry we aren't taking new patients and no one is here now' but yet as she's telling me this 2 employees are walking into the back of the hospital with their work clothes on Is this how this place treats people in Petalum... read more

I remember this place being more help, the staff is very helpful though, I will admit. This place is only affordable by the rich, certainly not for someone on SS. I had no choice! The Dr. I who I wound up seeing when I took my cat there yesterday who was not eating, Dr. Nick Dannemiller, would not have been my first pick. No bedside manner. Very unsure of himself. I felt he was not listening to me as when I was talking to him, as I described my cats symptom as I have observed. He was looking all over the place but at me. I ... read more

This place was so disappointing. I'm furious! My vet referred us to TRUVET for a sonogram. My beautiful girl had an x-ray and blood drawn at my vet on a Friday. They could see a little something in her stomach but nothing that really stood out in the x-ray so they sent me home with some anti-nausea meds and by Monday she was still super sick, so they referred her to TRUVET for a sonogram. When we arrived, they informed me they would need to x-ray her and run blood work again. I understand the x-ray, but the blood wouldn't ch... read more

I have to let you know that it is unacceptable for your operation to have euthanized my dog in a room with other animals and 10 people walking around. What is someone supposed to do as their family members of 18 years is passing on with other random animals and workers running around? Honestly, I can't believe how impersonal that felt. I'm appalled that you charged me $700 for 15 minutes when my dog who was almost dead and your operation doesn't have the decency to give us a private room. Or the competence enough to provide ... read more

We brought our 13 year old dog in who was having breathing issues and had to wait over 4 hours to see the vet who wanted to sedate her just to look in her mouth. They seem to be all about generating revenue and putting old dogs through unnecessary tests. Would never go back here again.

DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE . THEY WILL DECIDE TO UNNECESSARY EUTHANIZE YOUR FAMILY PET. my second opinion from another doctor saved her life, the worse experience we have ever been through my family grieving the loss of our pet, that ended up living. Get second opinions before trusting 1 single office with your family pets life. My son's dog is healthier and happier then ever!!!
