Finding the right hospital with the right doctors is not always an easy task. At Hickory, we realize the frustration many pet owners feel when choosing a veterinary hospital. So we decided to make it easy for our clients. We took a primary care veterinary hospital with dedicated general practitioners and added experienced specialists in surgery, oncology, cardiology, radiology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation and acupuncture. Then we went one step further and made the medical facility open 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 7... read more

Get directionsMost visits here (even just a simple wellness check) end in payments of at least $600... and my dog is healthy. The staff was friendly, but every time I came in, I felt that I had to be on guard for suggested additional testings, blood tests, radiographs, etc. which many times felt unnecessary - and I didn't trust the vets to have me or my pet's best interest in mind. At one time, my dog had one slightly elevated/irregular blood panel value. The vet recommended several different tests to get to the root of the "problem". It ... read more
Hickory has been our go to vet for "way serious" issues for 20 years-from surgeries, to serious diagnostic quandaries, to the sad days when we must bid a loving pet goodbye. We count ourselves so fortunate to have doctors and a facility of this quality within just a few miles of our home.
I took my dog to Hickory when she could not put weight on her right hind leg. They examined her and said it was her back, and gave her pain meds. They could not take xrays as the machine was broken. Turns out she had the beginnings of a cruciate ligament tear, which is in the knee, nothing to do with her back. If she had been diagnosed properly maybe she would not be undergoing expensive surgery to repair the ligament as we speak. I would not recommend using this place for emergencies, there are a couple other places much... read more
Read the other reviews. Don't care too much about the animals, will charge you for absolutely everything, and play the fun game of "what else can I dupe the patients into paying for."
Absolutely Outstanding! Six weeks ago, our 1.5 year old Scottish terrier decided to chew the wheel off of a piece of luggage- shards of rubber and metal were ingested. It could have been a deadly situation. The on-call nurse at Hickory Vet urged me to come in when I casually called to ask their advice. We rushed over immediately. They were prepared and absolutely 100% on top of it- the vet saw us immediately. I don't need to explain whole story but they saved our puppy. The doctors were incredible! She was there 3 nights- so... read more
My cat needs medication twice a day for a chronic condition. I called Hickory about medical lodging, which is advertised on their website. The woman answering the phone could not have been more unpleasant and rude to me. I was simply asking basic questions to find out how it works and she was speaking to me so rudely. If you want to put yourself out of business, Hickory, keep these type of people answering your phones. I hung up the phone; they won't be getting my business.
This is a difficult review for me because my opinion goes in so many directions. I have dealt with this hospital before, in fact this is the 3rd time. Unfortunately it was always in a emergency situation on a Saturday night :( when most Veterinary Clinics are closed! My review would be too long so I'll concentrate on this last one. My cat suddenly had problems walking and kind of stumbled down the steps. Looking really sick and weak. We rushed to Hickory Veterinary Hospital. When you walk in you can tell it's going to be exp... read more
I had a wonderful experience at this vet tonight. I took my dog in for an emergency service and found the staff to be great, especially the doctor. He was very kind, patient and helpful. He was sensitive to the dog's needs as well as mine during a very stressful time. I am lucky that my dog wasn't badly injured and the care she needed was minimal, but I thought the price was fair and care was excellent.
Our Jack Russell was given 2 Cytopoint injections for his allergies. The reaction he had after the second one was so bad that we had him put down. He couldn't walk or sit up by himself. I had always trusted Hickory Hill and the vet didn't think Cytopoint was a problem even though I said that our dog had a reaction to the first shot and I had brought him into their ER the next day. Now that I'm reading about this drug it turns out it's very new and many dogs have suffered and died from it. It wasn't even tested very extensive... read more
