Terrible place. They rip you off and scam you. Please avoid this place! I would give 0 stars if I could!

BUYER BEWARE! I DO NOT RECOMMEND! I was here a few days ago. My cat was having a GI issue that I now know (from visiting a regular vet) was very minor. I saw blood and reacted so took her here because it was open. I moved to the area and had not yet gotten a new vet so went on the reviews which I have NO idea why they are so good. They wanted to run every test possible at very high prices instead of doing anything to TREAT her symptoms. They also suggested hospitalizing her on an IV. She had ONE afternoon of symptoms. My cat... read more

For the last 3 years, I've tried visiting countless vets, but none of them compare to Hickory Vet Hospital. Dr. Pete Lands, in particular, is excellent and my german shepherd puppy loves spending time with him. He truly cares for my dog's well-being and it shows in the care that he and the rest of Hickory Vet provides. No gimmicks. I highly recommend!

Used their services for 1st time as an emergency. Facility was clean staff was inviting and provided professional service. The charge for pulling a nail off and wrapping the leg and two medications was $265.00. I had a similar problem during normal business hours at my usual vet and it was less then $100.00. I understand it was 8pm on a Saturday but I thought it was a little high. We were happy with care provided to our dog and thank the staff for their service.

Had a horrific ER visit with our dog. Be very careful who you choose for emergency services for your pet. Be sure they are in it for their true love of animals and just not the almighty dollar. Sad...

On my way to work, I came across a dying fawn in the middle a busy intersection of Butler Ave. Traffic was going around it but it was clearly alive and terrified. I carried the fawn out of the street and could see it had been eviscerated and suffering. As a fellow veterinary professional, we see terminal, hopeless cases so I only needed assistance to humanely euthanize it. As I was an hour from my veterinary workplace, it was futile to try to take him there. The closest 24hr emergency vet was Hickory Vet. I went in with the ... read more

Awful experience today. Scheduled my dog with his regular vet to have some moles looked at. Was told that a surgeon would be there at same time in case my vet needed to consult with her. Assured me cost for visit was $60. When I arrived at vet, the tech told me that I was given wrong info. That I would need to pay $150 to consult with owner/surgeon to look at moles. I explained everything that I was told on phone and also that I had called back right away to verify that a surgeon would be there if my vet needed to ask a ques... read more

I took my 2 rescues there for several years yes they are expensive but my dogs are family. Unfortunately when it came time to put my Shih Tzu, Moose, to sleep I made arrangements to have a Vet come to my house. I wanted my guy to have a peaceful and pain free passing. they showed up an hour late then told me they didn't normally give an animal a sedative before the shot. All of my dogs over the last 30 years were given sedative first because all the different vets agreed the shot is painful. I should have had them leave but ... read more

Don't bring your pet here. Unfortunately, it was an emergency and on a Sunday, and our vet was closed. Hickory has young and inexperienced vets, they are very expensive and unresponsive. My wife saw Dr. Amanda Steinagel, on 1/3/16, the day our 16 year old Jack Russel had been attacked by a Pit Bull. She prescribed an antibiotic and a sedative orally. Knowing our dog, my wife felt it would be difficult to administer the medications orally, and asked Dr Steinagel to prescribe in pill form. Amanda said she already mixed the ora... read more
