Finding the right hospital with the right doctors is not always an easy task. At Hickory, we realize the frustration many pet owners feel when choosing a veterinary hospital. So we decided to make it easy for our clients. We took a primary care veterinary hospital with dedicated general practitioners and added experienced specialists in surgery, oncology, cardiology, radiology, ophthalmology, rehabilitation and acupuncture. Then we went one step further and made the medical facility open 7 days a week, 365 days a year from 7... read more

Get directionsI have been using Hickory as my animal hospital for many years. I appreciate the variety of specialists and my ability to be seen quickly when it is required. Recently, I brought my dog in because of suspicion of heart problems only to discover he had a spinal problem. To make a long story short, Dr Brown and staff correctly diagnosed his condition, conducted his surgery, and nursed him back to health. A dog who suddenly had no use of the back half of his body now and take log walks and enjoy life. I cannot recommend them ... read more
Posing as an Emergency pet hospital???? This place is a horror and only a money machine that cares nothing about your animal. My Maine Coon Cat had a bleeding cyst/tumor on his back. I rushed him to this place for help. I am in the entertainment business and large bills are paid by my manager in NYC. They looked at him for 3 mins came back with a 1400.00 estimate and presented me with a 110.00 bill FOR AN OFFICE VISIT! They did not even do anything or try and stop the bleeding! I explained and had on the phone my manager to ... read more
I boarded 2 of my dogs here once and was not happy. My one dog was 17 yrs old and I thought that being it was also a vet she would be in good hands. I hated to board her because she was a very nervous dog and hated to be in a cage. They put her in an outside run that was partly covered and they put my smaller pomerainian in a small cage in a room full of cats. I figured it would be ok as I was only leaving them there for two nights. WhenI dropped them off I told them my older dog might have to be tranquilized as she would ch... read more
Let me just start out by saying that as a Vet Tech in training and a current Animal Care Technician for a living, in my experience, Hickory Vet is possibly the most thorough vet clinic you can take your pet animal to. However, the positives end there. The front desk workers are rude and discourteous, and look at people as if they have three heads when they ask simple questions. They forget to respect their clientele and the fact that average people do not have as much experience as they do. One in particular will tout the f... read more
So many bad vets...too few quality vets. We took our dog to Hickory with a cyst on his front foot and a limp on his back foot. They blew us off about the limp. They gave us a ton of needless medicine for the cyst that did nothing to improve his situation. They were 45 minutes behind schedule and rushed us out of the office. I recently called to request my vet records and was told that they charged $6 plus 20 cents per page. This place only sees dollar signs and not the animals in front of them.
Maybe OK on expertise in specialties, but nastyness, arrogance and cost overcome any benefits.
I wish I would have reviewed the last post before going to Hickory Veterinary Hospital. I had to take my puppy there last week on a Thursday night. I phoned the Hospital when my puppy was not acting right. The women who answered the phone was not comforting at all. She actually discouraged me from coming in. Against her better judgement, I drove the half hour. Once there , I stood in the lobby for 10min before anyone asked me if i needed to be helped. I would understand if they were busy helping other sick pets, but I found ... read more
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this letter to make you aware of how disappointed I am with the service I received from your facility. This is not the first time I have been exposed to this unsatisfactory feeling. Given the position I am in, a certified veterinary technician, I come across your hospital quite often. I have yet to hear any feedback from our clients that they have had a positive experience with our referral to your hospital. Unfortunately, I have witnessed this first hand as of this week. My ex... read more
My friend had to take her doxie to Hickory about 2 weeks when he was hit by a car and in pretty bad shape, he has been in there since with a broken pelvis and now has come down with MRSA. The night he was hit, I went with her to Hickory and I have to say that there are some completely rude and ignorant staff there, now some are quite nice, but there are some morons at the front desk for sure. They are all concerned with where they are going out that night, and not thinking about the animals or their owners. We sat there for ... read more
