You must be rich because all they see is $$$ when you walk in with a sick animal. On my first pet, they upsold us unnecessary, but costly treatments, but at least he got well. The second pet, turned out to have something terminal. Of course that wasn't mentioned until we spent almost a thousand on treatment. After tests, we found out the truth and they were stunned that we wouldn't put her through more costly tests and surgery. There was no talk of putting her to sleep because her quality of life was compromised. I had enoug... read more

I've taken all 3 of my dogs to Hickory over the past few years for a variety of medical issues. However, after my most recent experience at Hickory with my beloved dog, I'll never go back there. I do not have any faith in the medical care we received from the physicians (we saw 3 different doctors and an intern in a 5-day period). Furthermore, I feel that in some cases the bedside manner they showed us as owners was bordering on rude. I eventually transferred my dog to the University of Pennsylvania, where I received highly ... read more

Last week our cat had the unfortunate presence of mind to eat a polyester carpet fiber. No, it didn't go down easy and unfortunately became roped around his tongue as well as causing a blockage. We were recommended by our normal vet to go to UPENN but decided since there was favorable reviews on yelp.com, we would use the local option, Hickory. My wife brought him in and I spoke with the Dr who informed via phone the total cost was going to run a fairly wide range, that of 3-5 thousand if everything came out "ok" and much... read more

Don't bring your pet here if you have a choice. I had an emergency situation with my pet and brought it here on a Sunday night. They gave me a price range between $3,200 and $5,800 for emergency surgery. They gave me a contract with these figures, but in the fine print it said that the final cost could be 25% higher, which the vet never mentioned. To make a long story short, they kept finding excuses to keep the pet in for more than a week, doing additional procedures without my consent. When I finally went to meet with the ... read more

The team at Hickory took great care of our beagle Honey - helping her stay with us thru 15 years. They were also compassionate enough to let us know when it was time to let her go. Whether it was routine shots and checkups, a late nite emergency visit or a stay in the hospital, they always treated us professionally and kindly.

This place is the best- but you pay more for the best. I took my cat here for a check up in January and took her back in April when she didn't seem like herself. She was very sick and they offered me lots of options to help figure out why- but honestly they were all fairly pricey options. I went to another vet in my area and got almost the same options for a slightly lower price. If you have the money, this place is amazing.

Let me just say that after my last veterinary clinic which was super dirty and the lead male vet walked around without a shirt... this was like a dream! The facility is so clean and really big! It is full of light, spacious and all of the people working there are very nice! They greeted Durango (doggie) as soon as we walked in and one of the girls even came out to give him some love when he was being a big baby and wanting to make friends (with everyone as usual). The vet tech that saw us initially was gentle and sweet and s... read more

Do not take your pet to Hickory Animal Hospital. How do you explain that 6 different doctors examined my pet over many days and weeks and failed to properly diagnosis? They ran test after test and thousands of dollars later they sent him home telling me that he would be okay. I knew he was not feeling well so I took him to another animal hospital. Within 2 days he was diagnosed with a terminal disease and 2 weeks later he was gone. Hickory was supposed to properly diagnose him but instead of doing so they had us bring him ba... read more

Our experience with Hickory was anything but positive. Our first impression when arriving was good, but after the first night, things started going downhill. When we asked to speak with the Doctor, we were told she does not meet with patients but will do a telephone consultation. We accepted this and waited nervously for the call. After a three hour wait, we called again and the Doctor said she never got our first message and rushed us throught the consultation. She seemed to not have read the previous hospital's diagnostic ... read more
