Dr. Penn is very rude and unprofessional. He raised his voice at me and talked down to me when I was trying to explain why I brought my dog in. I left a review a couple months ago in depth explaining the situation and Horizon Animal Hospital responded with a very passive aggressive response. They told me to call and ask to speak to a manager about the situation so I did. They put me on hold for 20 minutes before finally telling me that I couldn't talk to the manager bc she was busy and they didn't understand why I wanted to ... read more

We rescued our first Great Dane and realized it's hard to find a vet who has worked with big dogs around the Arcadia/uptown area because most people have smaller dogs. Dr. Penn spayed and tacked our girl -- which I've come to learn can be an extremely stressful and hard process. However he and the staff (from the front door to anyone who spoke with me) answered my million and twelve questions and put me at ease during the whole process and beyond. We rescued an injured dog running down a busy street & took him to Horizon Animal Hospital for help. We asked them to scan for a chip & to check his injuries. someone put what they claimed to be a scanner on him & said he wasn't chipped. We found out from Animal Control later that day that the pup was indeed chipped! The front office worker at Horizon was very uncaring & downright rude! They were not willing to help us in any way. This is the best animal hospital/vet I have ever been to. I recently moved back to this side of town and my mom referred horizon. My kitty had CKD and was pretty much on his way out and they were so caring towards him and always gave me all of the information on his disease. I had to put him to sleep due to renal failure and they made the entire process less stressful and were so caring. The cremation process was also done with much care and respect. I can't express it enough how grateful I am for the staff at Horizon Animal Hospital. I switched to them after my previous vet sent me to a vet specialist for dental work. I got a second opinion at Horizon Animal and they took such great care of my pug and did a great job with his dental work for a third of the cost I was quoted at the specialist. The staff is great to work with and it was worth the 45min drive.

If I could give zero stars I would. I've been going to this practice for years, but Dr. Beth retired and sold it to the one most unprofessional people I've ever met, Dr. Penn. he treated me and my dogs with disrespect and was obviously pushing unnecessary medications and tests for his own financial gain. Veterinarians are supposed to treat your animals with care and compassion, and he was nothing short of a monster criticizing my dog because he had anxiety. You brought one pet in for an examination and another pet in for a nail trim. The veterinary assistant noted that the dog that was in for a nail trim was also due for an annual exam. An annual exam was offered to you, and you accepted. Dr. Penn performed a physical exam and noted a heart murmur. You stated that no one had ever mentioned this before. Run,..... don't walk..... away from Sean Penn DVM. He is absolutely rude and condescending. He enters an exam room without a greeting-like he's much too busy to see yet another animal. He talks in very curt sentences. I experienced this personally! If he's overwhelmed with something, change it. He needs to learn to be kinder to both the owners (who pay his bills) and the animals. Dr. Wendy Patterson is intelligent, professional, genuine, caring and goes above and beyond for your pet. She does not rush and really takes the time necessary to give your animal exceptional attention and vet care. The front desk is helpful and warm and there are reasonably priced compared to other Vet practices. Thank you!!!!

I am no longer going to board my dogs here. I brought a thin throw blanket and toy to have in the run and I know 100% that the blanket was not in the run. It was still folded the way I dropped it off. My dogs shed a lot and the throw blanket had no dog hair on it and it smelled like bacon dog treats. I can't trust this place to do the simplest of task.
