The Drake Center contiue to be the best Vet hands down in San Diego. We are taking a long trip to Hawaii which can be very hard to due with all the paperwork and labs, vaccine down in a timely manner. They have gone above and beyond to help me through this process & I cant thank you enough. Thanks again Dr. Shotwell & all the staff @ drake center!!!
A mis-diagnose based on an x-ray led the vet at Drake tell me a "foreign material" was stuck in my cats stomach and that I should take him to the emergency vet specialist for endoscopy ASAP. $1,700, two specialists, and an overnight stay later, my cat recovered from UTI and a stuck piece of poo which was easily removed with non-invasive procedure. Your pet was referred to a specialist for additional follow up diagnostics and care. Medical conditions are very fluid and can change quickly. Doctors are only able to make judgments based on the information available at the time and can change rapidly due to the fluidity of medicine. We always recommend the best options for our patients and sometimes that means a referral to a specialist. We are happy your sweet kitty is back to good health.
I am so happy to have the Drake Center to care for my 13 y/o pup. A family friend recommended them, and I'm glad she did. Every employee, from reception to the technicians to the doctors are professional, kind, and thorough. If they can leave this impression after only phone contact (due to COVID), that is pretty outstanding. I worked with Dr. Dilworth and she is wonderful. Dr. Hamlet and the staff were so helpful to our dog Rocky. We appreciate their hard work. This is the only place I will bring my dogs to. They are absolutely incredible. Can't say enough great things about them.
I tried some other vets around the area when we first moved here about 6 yrs ago and nothing compares to the Drake Center. My dog has severe anxiety and they take such great care of her. They call to check up after vet visits and really help on pricing.
10/10 highly recommend this place! The technicians here are extremely knowledgeable and Dr. Shotwell, the veterinarian, spent about an hour with us going over all the things new puppy parents need to know. Sent us home with a wealth of educational pieces and the online services they offer are very user friendly! Great location with plenty of parking makes this super convenient as well.
Docs are great and very convenient. But when they give you medicine it is upwards of 100% over the cost at petco/chewy.com/1800petmeds. To make matters worse they make it very hard to buy from the discount sites and will not simply authorize or fax scripts to the online vendor. Super inconvenient putting money and their bottom line before the care of a pet. I emailed their "customer support" rep and received no response. Avoid these guys unless you have deep pockets to give to their rent.

Just wanted to leave an updated review... after having my boss switch vets and now her two yellow Labradors are clients at the Drake Center, one of her dogs got a weird eye drip/boogers. We were a bit concerned about it, so I called the front desk, got their e-mail, sent a picture and within 5 mins got a response back assuring us that it was most likely an allergy and to monitor it and try Benadryl.
