I first learned about the Drake Center when I worked as a personal assistant and my employer would have me take his dog there. The staff are always friendly and the doctors really seem to care about all of the pets that walk through the doors. Personally I have taken my cats there and they have all received wonderful care. If you are an owner who considers their pet to truly be a member of the family then the Drake Center is the perfect veterinary center for you.

My dog eats inappropriate items and has had to been seen twice on an emergency basis. The Drake Center staff got her right in, x-rays were completed and the Doctor. talked to me about our options. The staff and all of the doctors were kind and considerate and gave me a clear outline not only of costs but of the options. My dog had surgery and throughout all of her time at the Drake center she was treated with love and kindness. The staff were professional and knowledgeable. We will be returning to the Drake Center for any ot... read more

I have a 10 year history with The Drake Center and I believe them to be the best animal hospital in North County. They are extremely professional, compassionate and have always provided excellent care. They truly care for their clients... the animals and the humans! I am a pretty particular animal owner, and The Drake Center has gone out of their way many, many times to make me feel comfortable about whatever medical issue we were facing, patiently taking the time to answer any and all of my questions, no matter how silly th... read more

If you have two old Labradors who both have numerous ailments then you can truly appreciate the professional and caring staff and not to forget the hours at the Drake Center! From the receptionists who answer every phone call with a smile and professionalism and who will try to accommodate MY schedule to the vet technicians who are experienced and are all pet owners themselves, my dogs and I feel we are well taken care of...and we come in quite often! Even though we've seen all of their vets over the years, my all-time favo... read more

I have been taking my two pups, Stella and Sophie to the Drake Center for almost 6 years. As a lifelong dog owner, I have never been to a more amazing veterinary clinic. They are professional, caring and truly treat my dogs like I do, as members of my family. Just recently, my older dog Stella had slowed down a bit, which I attributed to old age. I took them in for baths one day and knowing my pups, Dr. Boehme sensed something else might be wrong. She felt Stella's lymph nodes and suggested that maybe we should have a blood ... read more

I can't say enough about the service at Drake Center. The doctors and staff are second to none and we feel like family when we bring our pets in. The doctors truly care for each pet as if it was their own and this shows through every visit. My animals are treated like rock stars when they arrive -- they are never stressed as they have been at other vets in the past. I do feel the pricing is higher than any vet I've ever used, but I'm not a "bargain shopper" when it comes to my four legged members of our family. I stay becaus... read more

I could write a laundry list of reasons why this place is horrible, but I think the number one reason is that the people that are running this place (starts with a D and ends with a Rake) care much more about money than animals. I took my bill from the Drake Center and showed it to my normal vet (who was out of town when I needed a vet) and she suggested that I sue them the prices were so outrageous. While some people that work there are kind-hearted and well intentioned, it is simply not worth it to take your loved ones t... read more

I took one of my cats to the Drake Center after reading some the reviews here. We had been going to VCA but I found it over priced, unprofessional and overall more of a business then a caring vet. The Drake Center was awesome! I appreciated everyone's patience with my vocal kitty. The office is clean and professional. I also strongly agree with many of the reviews here, Dr. Boehme was great. Highly recommend.

I recently moved to Encinitas from CA. I brought my dog here for her annual vaccinations and this place is a joke. My dog has allergies and was sneezing. They told me she probably had a fox tail up her nose and they couldn't tell by looking up her nose. So, they advised that I immediately have her go into surgery. They wanted to put her under full Anesthesia and to do a nasal scope. However they never even looked up her nose so they weren't guaranteeing that was the problem. Then they kept pressuring me to make a decision qu... read more

Business response:

Dear Laura, I sincerely apologize that you had a bad experience. Foxtails are a common problem in our area and potential inhalation (most commonly displayed through sneezing) is something that needs to be handled quickly. Unfortunately, complete anesthesia is needed to look up into the nasal cavity. If the foxtail is not retrieved, it will continue to irritate the canal and cause more severe sneezing. Bleeding may also occur, which then makes it impossible to see anything. It is important our clients have a good expe... read more
