Do not take your cat here! They misdiagnosed both of my cats. My female died prematurely from chronic kidney failure--they said she was "stable" when actually she was getting worse. My male, who they were treating (or mistreating) at the same time, stopped eating and lost 7 lbs while the Drake vet ran the same blood test over and over. I finally brought them both to a cat-only vet who was shocked. He immediately diagnosed my male cat with IBD and began meds and a different diet--he improved significantly and lived for anothe... read more

Best. Vet. Ever!!! Dr. Kovac is the vet I wish I had known my whole life. We have found our 'home' at The Drake Center and will forever bring all of our animals to this office! Amazing, knowledgable, friendly staff; a clean, state-of-the-art facility and reasonable pricing. Super stoked!!!

This place cares far more about peddling meds and shilling shampoo than it does about animals. My previous vet had been monitoring a growth on my dog's leg and when it got bigger, I went to the Drake Center, since we recently moved to Encinitas. All of a sudden, the surgery needed to be done ASAP or else the dog would need skin grafts. I immediately scheduled surgery (even though we were dealing with a family emergency), which went well at first. Then my dog started to lick himself raw above the surgery site, which was wrapp... read more

Quoted us $674 per dog for neuter. The county website gives names of vets who offer programs for $75.00 per dog this includes everything! Although the vet techs at the drake center will lie and tell you it does not include collar and meds. They do not share this info. Stay away !

We took our recently adopted puppy for a complimentary evaluation. She had a few health problems and some behavioral issues. We were impressed with the staff and how they made a visit to the vet a non-stressful occasion (for the dog). They spent a lot of time with us, did an extensive evaluation, counseled us on the behavioral challenges and provided excellent care for the dog. We are very impressed and will be returning.

We absolutely love the Drake Center. My family originally started taking our dog there over 20 years ago when they were located on Encinitas Blvd. They always treated our golden retriever so well, even on that horrible day when we had to put him to sleep at age 13. I remember Dr. Shotwell crying with us on that day, and sending us a personal sympathy card later that week. Sad stories aside, I'm now married and have my own golden retriever with my husband. We decided to take him to the Drake Center based on my childhood expe... read more

I was in from San FDiego visiting my brother when my dog started peeing blood (yikes). Drake was about as good as it gets-found off of Yelp. They reviewed my dog's history from my SF vet, did some tests, and even gave me several other findings that I had been seeking on wierd symptoms (and printouts or articles). Despite being an emergency visit the vet did an overall checkup at no additional charge, followed it up with an email and call, then sent a written thank you letter, despite my living out of town. The vet was genuin... read more

I first learned about the Drake Center when I worked as a personal assistant and my employer would have me take his dog there. The staff are always friendly and the doctors really seem to care about all of the pets that walk through the doors. Personally I have taken my cats there and they have all received wonderful care. If you are an owner who considers their pet to truly be a member of the family then the Drake Center is the perfect veterinary center for you.

My dog eats inappropriate items and has had to been seen twice on an emergency basis. The Drake Center staff got her right in, x-rays were completed and the Doctor. talked to me about our options. The staff and all of the doctors were kind and considerate and gave me a clear outline not only of costs but of the options. My dog had surgery and throughout all of her time at the Drake center she was treated with love and kindness. The staff were professional and knowledgeable. We will be returning to the Drake Center for any ot... read more
