Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

We love Metropolitan Veterinary Center. It was the first vet we took out 3 month year old pup too when we had an emergency. Dr. Jacobs and her staff were all very attentive and even offered to observe her the next day at no cost to ease our minds. Compassionate and comprehensive as promised!
Monday was a sorrowful day in our home! Ms. Scarlett, my daughter's pet for 11 years had reached the end of her time with us. Early that morning we traveled to the Vet Center for end of life care. My daughter was heartbroken and in tears. The staff explained clearly and compassionately what options were left. Their demeanor was so kind. They gave us a room to spend some time with Ms. Scarlett. We were never rushed! My daughter received a grieving packet and was told to call any time! Ms. Scarlett went peacefully in my daught... read more
Coming to metrovet is always a joy. Both mahogany and I love the doctors...they are so caring and skilled. We had a terrible experience with a mobile groomer today, a couple of cuts and inflamed eye, but I know Dr. Jacobs will take good care of my baby.
After 5 frustrating vet visits in the last 10 months at another vet clinic (Folks, don't keep going to a vet you don't feel is a match!), this was a breath of fresh air. The clinic was clean. The vet techs were friendly. The receptionist was friendly. Dr. Jacobs was exactly what I was looking for. She told me what I should do for my dog now, what I should probably do in X amount of time, and what I may need to do in Z amount of time. So nice to meet a vet who gives you a game plan for your aging dog with a new chronic health... read more
I moved back to Chicago last year from Virginia with my 2yo lab mix. When I got here I tried two other vets before committing to Metro Vet. Here's why they won me over: Location: It's in the south loop so it's walking distance to my house and Michigan Ave is a nice street to walk along. Even in the evening and at night it is well lit and fairly busy. It's also walking distance to DogGone Fun! which is where I take my pup for boarding, daycare, and grooming. Staff: The staff and Vets are always very nice and helpful. It seems... read more
This is the best veterinary clinic I have been too. I have been bringing my dog here since I got him when he was 7 weeks old. Being that he was my first dog, I had plenty of questions and the staff there always takes the time to answer them. There staff is friendly and polite and are great with handling my dog. It is great to have such a great veterinary clinic. I highly recommend them to anyone and would keep going even if I moved from the S.Loop.
On June 28th my wife and I got two new kittens from Iowa (we rescued them from a farm after their mother died...my wife is from Iowa, it was her friend's family farm). I got the babies home late on that Saturday, and wanted to make sure that the kittens were seen as soon as possible so we could do whatever we might need to do to make sure they were healthy. We were too late to schedule an appointment for Saturday, but Metropolitan Veterinary Center was very accommodating in getting us in early on Sunday...YES! They are open ... read more
When I brought home my new puppy, Metropolitan Veterinary Center was recommended by many people in my building. I am so happy that I brought Violet here. The staff is kind, efficient and helpful. No question or concern is too small. The center is very clean and has zero animal smell. It is evident that great care is taken. I feel that if there is deliberate care in keeping the facility clean, I am confident that that diligence will also be applied to the care of my precious puppy.
Very friendly, professional and helpful service for a late Saturday night. My dog has been not moving, drinking and eating the whole day. I am so thankful that I can find a place like metro near my house.
