Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

I began bringing my 1yr old rottie here once we moved back to the city and I've been very pleased thus far. The hours are extremely convenient, it is a newer, well kept and clean facility, and the staff is extremely pleasant and thorough. My experience has been great so far and my dog is healthy and happy and that is what's most important. I have fully transferred to Metropolitan and would recommend them to anyone. I have nothing but great experiences and things to say!
I have been to Metropolitan Vet several times in the past few years for our pup (a maltese). We originally found this place based on Yelp reviews and decided to give this a try when we needed to take our pup in for an emergency visit and our suburban vet was closed (this was a Sunday evening). Ever since that visit, our pup has only come to Metropolitan Vet for his doggie doctor needs. We love that they have the most flexible hours and can typically accommodate same day or next day appointments. The doctors are very thorough... read more
We moved to the area about 1 year ago and decided to try Metropolitan after reading all the outstanding reviews on Yelp. We are SO happy with our decision. Their staff - everyone from the receptionist to the doctors - are so welcoming, friendly and have a great "bedside manner". They are really accommodating and have great hours if you need to get in before or after work. Like other reviewers have said, they squeezed us in when one of our dogs had a sudden injury. Dr. Jakob is the most compassionate vet we've ever worked wit... read more
This is hands down the best vet hospital ever. My dog has seen both the doctors in the practice in addition to most of the staff (my dog has elbow dysplasia) and everyone is professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Their facility is spotless; they have great technology--ultrasound and x ray and they do a lot of their testing on site, so you don't have to wait long for results. In addition, they have great extended hours 7 days/week. Like any dog owner, I love my dog--and I would never take her to a place where I didn't 100... read more
Amazing job took our cat in on a Saturday near their closing time and did not hesitate to take her in as a new client.the staff was very nice and professional and easy to talk to and again did an amazing job on our cat. After the exam and the procedure she needed they made sure to see us in the waiting room to show us what we were concerned about. Overall great experience and you can tell the owner takes pride in her practice. We definitely found a vet we trust and will use for anything in the future.
I've been taking my Golden doodle here for about 2 or 3 years now and we have nothing but good things to say. They're open early, they're open late, they're always courteous, it's almost always a quick affair, prices are fair for the area, and the team genuinely seems to care about the animals. That last part isn't something that should be taken for granted. Other vets in the areas seem to treat your dog as a money machine and I've never liked that. They've never seemed to be liked that at Metro Vet.
All of the other 5 star reviews say it all. The people at MVC were great to work with and friendly. My dog, Chico, didn't feel threatened nor did he try and run away from the vet tech/assistant (which usually happens) so I knew right at the start that we were in good hands! Something that bothers me about most vet centers are the horrible smells and the random animals crying/barking in the background (always makes Chico - and me - anxious) but there was NO wet dog or kennel smell at all! MVC was very clean considering the hi... read more
I was nervous about getting my small dog's teeth cleaned since I know 2 people whose dogs didn't survive the anesthesia (both were out of state). The vet here reassured me that they always do pre-op blood work so there are no surprises and the anesthesia will be safe (my 2 friends didn't get blood work done). So I crossed my fingers took my dog in. The vet knew I was nervous, and called me after the cleaning to say all went well. Fresh breath for everyone to enjoy! I like this vet office because they have crazy long hours an... read more
I am new to the Chicago area and found Metropolitan based on other yelp reviews. All I can say is that they have made our move extremely easy to transition into the area. The doctors are extremely knowledgeable and explain everything in detail which helps me understand the issues. They are quick to respond and send email follow ups which are helpful and convenient. The staff is always welcoming and it is a great overall experience. I've had a couple emergency appointments as well and they always have time to pencil us in.
