About this business

HealthcareVeterinarians

Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

We started our puppy journey at another Vet and weren't happy with the care our puppy received there. We switched to Metro and they have been nothing but accommodating and wonderful! The Vets are friendly and will actually spend their time getting to know your dog and really building a relationship. They will also do whatever is needed to keep YOU calm as well! Our dog was recently neutered and had a gastropexy and they gave us pain meds and a cone and sent us home. We had issues with the cone and our dog panicking. We call... read more

The front staff was excellent and very kind and helpful. However, the vet was not. My dog had taken off his cone and torn out his staples after surgery. I couldn't go to my regular vet because they're closed on Wednesdays. On the phone, Metropolitan told me that it would be around $65. When I arrived, the front desk staff was friendly. They took my dog to a waiting room. The vet consulted with me and quoted me $380. I told her I couldn't afford that price and explained their price didn't make sense. Yesterday, my vet had re-... read more

I rushed my chihuahua mix to MetVet for an emergency examination. He had been diagnosed with arthritis, was urinating blood and was unable to hold up his head. I walked into the facility holding him, ready to explain this, but the receptionist was on the phone and didnt bother to acknowledge that someone was standing there, visibly upset. Five to ten minutes later when she was off the phone, I explained to her the state of my dog and she seemed a bit perplexed. She went to get the vet, who came out minutes later in scrubs an... read more

I would give them more stars if I could. This facility is AMAZING. I rescued a cat, Charlie, from Animal Control in Chicago. I took him to a vet that said she could't handle him and that was it. Charlie came from an abusive hoarder situation and some cats tested positive for FIV and FeLv in the home so it was important for me to know his results before I brought him home. He was scared and possibly feral. I called Metropolitan Veterinary Center and Jessica at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They told me they would h... read more

My Basset Hound Sweetpea has been a patient ever since she moved into the neighborhood. She likes Metro Vet for the generous treat jar policy, the prompt Dog Friendly Area tag process service and the friendly staff that is quick to remind her what a good girl she is. She tolerates the occasional poking and prodding that is part of the Vet visit. I'm her human. I love Metro Vet for the convenience, the top notch facilities and most importantly the competent and compassionate Vets and staff that work there.

Metro Vet Center is THE BEST for so many reasons. From a routine exam standpoint, their hours of operation are super helpful. It's nearly impossible for me to schedule vet visits throughout my work day, so i really appreciate their extended hours. Literately every, single employee is sincerely nice - and it's the sincerity that wins me over. Most importantly though, was how they were there for me and Lola when we had an emergency. I came home one day to Lola covered in blood - there was a terrible thunderstorm and she chewe... read more

LOVE this place. They seem to understand cats pretty well and was surprised at how affordable the Senior screen was compared to other places in Chicago... They take time explaining everything to make sure you are comfortable, more important that my old kitty is happy and comfortable. I'm very pleased...!

We recently moved to the area and had not found a new vet quite yet when our dog was cut at a dog park. After calling several vets we called the metropolitan veterinary center and they were able to squeeze us in. They we so incredibly kind and reviewed all of our options with us prior to stitching our little guy up. We will definitely go here as long as we live in Chicago!
