Thursday, September 3, 2020 - We have been taking out dogs to Saguaro Veterinary Clinic for 30 years. Both us and our dogs have loved their service and the care they took with our animal's veterinarian needs. However, during our appointment today, our first what I would describe as virtual appointment, the service was terrible, their communication to us as to what they did to our dog was confusing, and we came away looking for a new Vet. The receptionists in this office are ill-mannered, discourteous, lack basic communication skills and are unequipped to handle any kind of task they are presented with. Why they have been placed as the "face" of the company is beyond me. I was nothing but polite to them!! and they treated me like an irritant over the phone and gave my husband attitude when he arrived. I am beyond disgusted with our experiences since Dr. Ketchmark left the office. The staff has been increasingly rude and condescending towards me, hold times have gotten longer and longer and both of my dogs have suffered due to the negligence of Dr. John Soltero. I took my 11 year old pit mix and my almost 2 year old coonhound mix (now deceased) to an appointment because they both had different ailments. Update: A different Vet has called me and I am happy with the result. My pup was diagnosed with Cushing's and the original communication of the diagnosis was not acceptable.
Saying goodbye to Saguaro is bitter sweet. We starting using Saguaro about 6 years ago for our 2 labs and Fox Hound rescue. Mike and John are equally great in their practice and their back office team is very competent and great with our boys. The issues we encountered and the reason we are taking our boys elsewhere is surrounding the front office. We spent $1000 to have a growth removed from our 13 year old lab and had his teeth cleaned. The office staff is horrible, rude and mean. I sat for over 3 hours, with no explanation, after 2hours of waiting with no contact, I did ask politely how long it would take, the girl at the desk responded with a nasty mean attitude and tone. I guess she has been yelled at before for being unprofessional, so she went right for defense - which was not warranted - or how to treat a customer waiting for THAT long. We are sorry to hear that your recent visit was less than exceptional. We are one of the few hospitals that take walk ins as a courtesy to our clients. We strive to let them know that there will be a wait and that it can be lengthy. We have to take already scheduled appointments first and walk ins are taken first come first serve as time becomes available. If a specific doctor is requested it can extend the waiting time. Great staff and overall experience with ear cropping for our Dogo Argentino. Dr Mike gave advice on the breed standard and with our dog's body shape. I would give 5 stars but Dr Mike was a bit condescending and egotistical when talking to me and my concerns about the ear crop. I know he does this frequently but this being our first time, he could have taken more time to explain and reassure us (and improve his people skills). In the end, we are VERY happy with the ear crop.
My pet died while sitting in the waiting room for over two hours. Others with appointments for nail trimming and shots got seen while my cat wailed in anguish. If you don't love your pet, take it here. It's just an euthanasia clinic, not a vets office.
I take my dogs to Saguaro for their checkups and shots. The front desk staff, vet technicians and veterinarians are all so nice and my dogs love them! Definitely doesn't hurt that they always give them treats. They're a busy clinic so I would recommend making an appointment instead of walking in if it's something for a non-emergency matter.
