Dr wages is a great doctor. She is very caring, honest, and only does tests that are truly needed We took our lab puppy to her after being told by NCSU that we needed to do $3000 in test. Dr Wages said she was too young for the test and to wait until she was 4 months. She worked with us and did a lot of research for us our side the office visit. Recently we took our 10yr old dog to a Pet ER because of dehydration. They said it looked like she had liver failure. They wanted to do $600 in test. I took her to Dr wages the n... read more
Not only did they fit me in for an appointment the day after my Great Pyrenees got off a cargo plane from South Korea, but they were so amazingly sensitive to her state of mind that I came back for grooming services. Here's how it went. I get back to the US from being stationed overseas with my husband, and realize that I have left all the important dog records/Heartgard/treats/collars, etc in a bag, on the kitchen table... in Korea. Most of it I could do without, but not the Heartgard--not in the Southern states! They no... read more
I have had only one experience so far with CareFirst Oberlin and it has been fantastic! They gave our newly adopted, adult Great Pyrenees his first bath and nail trim, and did a great job - he is so soft now and smells great! And so cute with his purple bandana! I was impressed with the customer service from start to finish - from scheduling to pickup. Not to mention they were able to get him in on short notice, their convenient hours, and I felt the pricing was more than reasonable compared to some other places I had checke... read more
I've been taking my pets to CareFirst Animal Hospital at Oberlin for years. I drive from Hillsborough to take my pets to CareFirst because I want excellent vet care for my pets and that is what they get from CareFirst. Dr. Wages, Dr. Gordon and Dr. Sawyer have all treated my pets and provided top notch care. The staff is excellent. I like that the practice can take care of the ultrasound needs of my cat that has heart issues (I don't have to go elsewhere or wait for the mobile unit to show up on a certain day). When ... read more
I will not be using them again. A routine visit here resulted in an infection and inflammation that will need surgery. The attendant didn't hold my dog correctly (long dog, needs back support). I asked him nicely if he could hold her back and he did for the moment then forgot and stopped doing it. So frustrating
I took my cat here after adopting him for 2 visits before deciding not to return. First of all, the first visit was fine. Second visit - not so much. Over one hour past our appointment time, we were taken back. Then, we find out the vet gave our cat the wrong deworming medication the last time and we would need to put him through another round of medication. They acted like this was no big deal and offered to take the cost of the medication off the visit (a whopping $8). Not to mention our cat was still very anxious as he wa... read more
Bad Grooming Experience. Facts: 1. We have a dog with longish wavy fur that needed a shape up. 2. I spoke with the groomer about taking 1/2 inch of all around, shaping his face up so he could see better and getting the fur between his pads trimmed. 3. The groomer said she had visited him in day camp, he wasn't that tangled and understood my instructions. 4. Text from groomer around 1:00 pm that there is some matting around his ears and legs that she "was able to work out, but it might take longer." 5. Text at 5:15 that she ... read more
The positives: the care provided was fine although my dog luckily never had any serious health concerns and the vets almost always talked to me like I was 15 years old and an idiot. I was 25. They also were helpful to give on-call advice and weren't always trying to pressure you into a visit (ex. Your dog eats a chocolate bar, and they tell you your dog will be fine and doesn't need to come in). The negatives: the doggy day care allows your dogs out to play only for one hour in the morning/afternoon (depending on the time ... read more
Care first is disorganized (e.g. forgetting to complete all checkups/vaccinations, and then we needed to schedule a follow-up wellness appointment a couple of days later) and it is too expensive. When we requested the results of the heart worm tests for two dogs, we found out that they charged us for tests that they did not complete. We got our money back, but only because we requested records and the results weren't in the records. However, the vets, vet techs, and staff are very nice.
