Lake Anna Veterinary Hospital was the closest clinic to our vacation rental at Lake Anna over the Memorial Day weekend. A senior dog, found her way to our cottage after midnight during a thunderstorm. She was shaking , covered in mud and came to our door, begging for shelter. We took her in and tried to find her "people," but no one claimed her. We took her to this hospital to see if she had a microchip. She didn't. I asked if they would keep her for 2 hours , until animal control opened because we were from out of town ... read more

Was really hoping that this veterinary hospital would be different than the high priced city vets that I have been to, but unfortunately it is just another of the same. You would think a vet out in the country would be less expensive as the ones in the city, but it's not and might actually cost more. They charge $16 to trim nails, considerably more than average for our rather rural area. Over the course of two years, Dr. Slovis (the head guy) saw us only once; the rest of the vets were fill-ins, with the result that nobody has gotten to know our dogs (or us); we are strangers every time. I fou... read more

He takes my cat into another room. Comes back and tells me he gave her a steroid shot. Never consulted with me. Two days later I bring my cat in because she's having trouble breathing. They bring her back out after two minutes saying I need to take her somewhere else because they are closing early. I take her to another emergency clinic. She's in heart failure from the steroid shot. The emergency clinic contacted Lake Anna Vet Hospital and let them know what was going on. $1750 later to save my cat all I hear from Lake Anna ... read more
