Our dog was among Dr. P's first clients back in 1997. At that time, the doctor was very attentive, happy and we felt very confident in her ability to take care of our newest family member. She was confident in her consultation, attentive to me and my pet and visits were an upbeat and positive experience. My dog seemed to like the doctor and assistants. I was taking my pets to Dr Portugal for over ten years- im completly flabbergasted by wat happened today- my beloved dog had a procedure done today-went in she had her annual physical n shots- had to leave her there for the laser surgery till 3 my daughter in law n 2 grandbabies wanted 2 meet me in parking lot of vets office so we can go have lunch n coffee n go shopping while I was waiting for my baby to get done- I come back 2 n half hours later n my truck was gone!! When people take their sick pet to the vet, they need comfort and understanding, not nasty comments and passive aggressive remarks. The office is dingy and dirty, and I've never before been forbidden to come into the examination room with my pet. The vet sent us home with a still very sick kitty, and we were concerned/still are concerned that he didn't get the care he deserves. Also, the vet pushed us to buy a fur brush for $40. I actually just obtained shot records today and will go to a new vet. Theresa at the front desk is MISERABLE and is rarely pleasant. The office is dirty and smells horrible. I've been to other vets through the years and theiroffice is unhealthy. My last visit there Dr. Portugal was on the phone in a back room with a Lab who had apparenlty lost her lab results. She yelled and screamed at the person on the phone like I've never heard before. She was irrational, loud and had no regard for people that were sitting in the waiting... read more

The Dr. was amazing and so were the vet techs and assistants. Receptionist had no compassion and was quite rude. Would highly recommend if receptionist Theresa was replaced!!

If you love your pets do not take your animal to Critter Care located in Thorndale, PA. I took my cat there on Friday and they gave me all the medicine to give to him. When I work up the next day the cat had died. This is the worse veterinary hospital in the Chester county. My animals now go to Animal Clinic which is also located in Thorndale,PA and they are the best.

My boyfriend took his 11 year old black Lab here two years ago because she had developed some breathing problems. He didn't like how his dog was treated here, she was yanked around on a leash, among other little things that made him feel as though a few of the people here may not care for the animals as much as they should.
