Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

We've been going to Metro Vet for our French Bulldog puppy since bringing him home in May. Our puppy sees Dr. Cruz-Balser and we (and our puppy) love her! He gets so excited and actually pulls to go IN to the clinic. We did a lot of research on different veterinarians before bringing home our puppy because Frenchies carry high health risks, and we've been consistently impressed with Dr. Cruz-Balser's knowledge of bulldogs. A few of the techs described her as the "bulldog expert" of the clinic. Overall Dr. Cruz-Balser is prof... read more
I can't thank Metro Vet enough for their help with my dog this past weekend. I called my current vet (not Metro) when my dog had what I thought was a medical emergency. They were too busy to even bother talking to me, so I was desperately calling around on a Saturday to see if I could get help somewhere. Even without being a current patient, Metro Vet took the time to talk to me and let me know what they thought could be the problem (without examining him of course) and were able to get me their earliest appointment. I reall... read more
I will be as specific as possible in this review, but my best advice for new dog owners, if you choose to come here, is to make sure that you keep track of your own records and that you are very clear in your communication, and are not afraid to ask questions. I do believe the downfalls with this practice lie with the management. The vets have all been helpful and kind, and they work hard. COVID did not help with building a relationship, which is something I was hoping for as a new puppy owner, I know it has been hard across... read more
DO NOT GO HERE; there are several other GREAT animal hospitals in the area that deserve your business. I took my labradoodle here to get neutered & a few test done. They initially quoted me one price which was astronomical, however I decided to bite the bullet anyway. When I arrived at the designated time to pick him and waited an ADDITIONAL 45 mins the front person didn't realized I already paid & quoted me a significant lower price. I asked why the price was cheaper? He had no VALID explanation & gave me one sorry ass excu... read more
My partner, and rest of my family, have spent thousands of dollars over the years here, in part because it is so close to our home. We really gave it so many chances, across many different staff and concerns. We recently spent a lot on our cat, and a recurrence of a problem flared up Saturday around 3 pm. They are open until 10 pm, and thru tears we begged to bring in our cat, knowing it was likely his last hours. They said no room and told us to go to an emergency vet 10 miles away. It was very callous, for an existing clie... read more
They are not what they use to be!!! I have been using this vet for the past 7 years. For the most part I have had some great experiences there. Great hours, nice facility and knowledgeable. But I've had some health issues with all 3 of my pets and one occasion they left me sitting at the pharmacy for over an hour and the pharmacy closed while i was waiting for doctor to call in an important script. Our favorite vet left the practice and I noticed a difference. I had some people in my neighborhood feel the same about Metro Ve... read more
So many great things to say! Brought my dog here for his neutering and gastropexy. The first attempt he was super nervous and wouldn't go back to to the exam room. Dr Jacobs sensed his anxiety and had us come back weekly (free of charge!) for him to get comfortable with the office. Successfully had the surgery yesterday and everyone was incredibly friendly. Dr Jacobs had left for the day before my pup was ready to be picked up but called me on her cell phone and left her cell number for me to call with any questions or issue... read more
I was treated unfairly today during my visit. I feel the staffs especially the front desk are unprofessional. My dog and I was put in to a room for longer than 20mins without been visited by a doctor and the room smells very odd and I just couldn't stay longer. When I came out of the room and asked if the doctor is still available to see us. Then I've been told the doctor took an emergency case and will not be available to see us. The front desk was like if you have more important things to do you can leave. But the thing is... read more
Dr. Natarajan is a really great vet. Christina up front is always kind and I like that someone is there that I have known for years. Pam is funny and a great tech as well. They respond to emails, docs call, pricing is still fair. When I adopted my current best bud he had been severely abused by a vet so I am in no position to change vets because he does like Dr. Natarajan and is comfortable going to Metro. As much as I miss Dr. LaFave there are still very good people there that care about the well being of my dude, and all o... read more
