About this business

HealthcareVeterinarians

Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

We put our 15 year old kitten down yesterday. He's brought us so much joy and love over the last 15 years. We are still in shock and definitely in pain considering our tremendous loss. I'm taking the time out to write this today, first and foremost, because I wanted to thank the doctor and staff who took such compassionate care for us in our time of need. Our kitty had been sick for a while, he's had surgery (at a prior location) but he just wasn't improving overall and his health continued to decline. Since being seen at th... read more

Compassionate, loving and caring staff. The doctors diagnosed my King Charles Cavalier, Ella's condition in 15 mins after tests performed. I took her to 2 other hospitals who claimed to take X-rays and wanted to euthanize her. I asked for her test results and X-rays to take with me. The vet told me that where I take her would not need them. Since, they will perform their own tests. Metro Vet staff called the Vet hospital and had him on speaker and he was yelling and denying his actions. They asked him to forward the photos o... read more

We've been going to metro for the past 4ish years and we love their continuous love and care for our pet. We definitely miss Dr.Sahar so so soooo tremendously but we still receive great care from the other veterinarians in the practice. The front staff is always so kind whether you're talking to them on the phone or in person, and the techs are just as friendly and caring. The practice itself is very clean and well kept. The vets are always willing to answer all of our questions and explain things thoroughly to us. For the m... read more

I've been taking my dog here for years and was referred by my two friends who both take their cats here. We've all had wonderful experiences with them. My dog is a nervous old girl and they always handle her with care. Highly recommend.

My cat's last day was in the care of this clinic and I had been taking him to another office but the care there wasn't personal. I saw Dr.Ennis, she was honest and empathetic. I wish I had seen her a long time ago. I wish the other clinic had just said he was in a lot pain instead of come back in 6 months. Today, I put him down today. It honestly just meant a lot someone was just transparent with him. RIP DAVEY. You gave me the world.

I appreciate Metropolitan Veterinary Center greatly! I am always very impressed with the staff, from the way they handle my senior cat so kindly to the way they help come up with solutions for our care plan, such as medication costs and administration. You can tell that the staff truly enjoy working here as everyone is always happy, bubbly, and laughing, which definitely made me feel comfortable leaving my cat in their care. I chose this vet initially due to the good ratings and the fact that there are multiple parking space... read more

I called Metro the morning after my 1 1/2 yr old yorkie had been vomiting and having serious GI issues. They worked us in that same morning after I explained our situation and worked with helping me with financial aid! The entire staff was seriously helpful in calming me with multiple updates throughout our experience. I was able to pick him up with all medications later that evening. Taco made a miraculous recovery after following their direction. If you love them like family take them to where they get treated as such. Tha... read more

Had never been to this clinic but my cat was suffering and needed to be put to sleep. The staff were so kind and compassionate; not a long drawn out affair but quick and kind. I appreciate what they did for me during a sad occasion.

Our cat Lucky was nearing end of life when we took him to Metropolitan Vet Center in South Loop. After the initial diagnosis, Dr Jacobs explained our options very professionally and thoroughly. When our cat did not respond positively to short term palliative care, we took him back to be euthanized. Dr Jacobs, the techs and front desk staff couldnot have been more compassionate and professional. I would definitely recommend Dr Jacobs and the MVC.
