Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

MetroVet is wonderful! I take my adult chihuahua and golden retriever puppy here. Every experience has been great - super friendly staff, clean office, on time, great hours of operation! Plus they have been really helpful when I call in with random questions. I would and do recommend Metropolitan Vet to all the animal owners out there!
nothing but great things to say about this vet office. everyone from the reception desk to the tech and vet were nothing but kind, efficient and thorough. I got in quickly and had a 9pm Sunday appt., amazing hours. they quickly prescribed in gave my dogs the proper care and email me the records the next day after they called to follow up. I will def be using them from here on out.
be aware of this practice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i took my 3lb 9week old pup here and dr. june was great until she told us he had a parasite in his poop and that he needed meds. i said i wanted to research it first. after we were given his lab report that evening when we left i called our breeder upset. she called me the next day after checking with other new pup owners and none of the other pups had this so my gut was telling me mixed things. i stopped by a few days later to ask for the lab report again and noticed that they had t... read more
The entire staff here are the best. Kind compassionate and always paying attention to that overcharging I love these people
Without question, the best vet in Chicago. The staff is compassionate, knowledgeable, and highly efficient. They do take walk-ins, but appointments are recommended so you don't have to wait. Parking is available next door for free, and they have multiple Vets working so you can usually find a time that works with your schedule. In December, they have a teeth cleaning special and if you can, have Dr. LaFave do the cleaning. She rocks and is also extremely knowledgeable. You can get most prescriptions, high end prescription fo... read more
came here for a annual visit for my dog, this will be our new vet. Granted my puppy is healthy and has no major health issues, so I can not comment on their abilities as far as that is concerned, but I can say that It was easy to get an appointment. They have their own parking lot and lots of street parking, it is very clean, the staff are very friendly. Our vet seemed very straight forward, and was easy to work with. They didn't try and sell me things I didn't need, which I love! we will be back.
Both my cats love Metro Vet!! I had Cream neutered a couple of weeks ago. When I picked him up, he looked happy so I was sure he received good care after the surgery. Since that was my first time having my cat neutered, Metro Vet provided me thorough instructions about the things I should pay attention to after I take him home. I also received a follow-up phone call after about 2 days to check on Cream. They do care about Cream!! I'm glad I picked Metro Vet for my cats.
They literally saved our dog's life. (but we also go there for routine care and have been clients since they opened!). Recently though, we recently moved out of state, and we really really are missing the excellent care, educated veterinarians and staff, ridiculously awesome hours, and just generally good, quality vet care! We have taken our 2 cats and 2 dogs here and seen excellent treatment for both species -- regular checkups, shots, cat urinary tract infections, dog eyelid issues, embedded dog ticks after playing in the ... read more
The patient education and follow ups were highly lacking. After extensive tests and $1,500 later, my dog was diagnosed with Cushings disease and a couple medications were prescribed, one of them being Vetoryl. Around this time I was in my first trimester of pregnancy and wasn't showing. Nonetheless, I later discovered on my own that Vetoryl is a Class X by the FDA. Meaning, I should not even touch the medication unless wearing gloves. I was never informed of this and unfortunately, I had a miscarriage. I'm not blaming them o... read more
