About this business

HealthcareVeterinarians

Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

I could not recommend this practice more highly. We seen every vet and vet tech multiple times. We are anxious owners of an even more anxious, high-maintenance klee kai. We feel at ease every visit and every call (of which there are numerous). The entire staff is accommodating, knowledgeable, kind, and willing to go the extra mile. You'd think for service like this, you'd be bankrupt by the bill, but their pricing is extremely fair and transparent. To top it all off, their hours cannot be beat. Early morning to late night, t... read more

Honestly, I cannot say enough positive things about MetroVet and their amazing staff! I initially selected MetroVet based their convenient hours (7 days a week-7AM to 10PM) but the service is what truly makes MetroVet the best in the city! Each and every staff member at MetroVet is compassionate about their work and always takes the time to make sure you and your pets feel welcome! Dr. LaFave and Jacobs are phenomenal--they are the not only knowledgeable and professional but truly have a love for what they do! Thanks to the ... read more

hand down the best vet in the city I've been to. I had serious issues with two other vets I visited with my pups but the staff her is professional, knowledgeable & so personable. When I have any issues whatsoever, as small as they may be, they're just a call or email away and make room for your visit on a moment's notice. they're the best!

My experience at Metropolitan Vet Center on 11/1/15 was 5 stars. My dog was attacked by a pit bull on 11/1/15 at a nearby dog park and bleeding badly. The staff not only made sure my dog was stable upon our unannounced arrival and while waiting to see Carlo Saviori, but also made sure I was okay too by providing band aids to cover the bite I received from the pit bull. Thank you Carlo Saviori and staff that day for being friendly, timely and professional!

I decided to come here instead of the place closer to me due to the hours and I felt I could not wait. My dog had any eye problem, it was swollen and he kept rubbing it. I took him in and the vet treated him for an eye infection and gave him drops. She also listed on his discharge paper that it was due to an injury, though I stated that I didn't recall my dog hurting himself. The problem seemed to go away but came back and I saw a different vet who gave him a stronger antibiotic. This still wasn't working so back to the vet ... read more

After 2 inconclusive visits to our kitty's longtime vet a week apart, his health was deteriorating fast and we had no diagnosis. His belly was getting gigantic. He was waddling, barely eating/drinking and sitting facing a wall (usually a super social guy). He needed imaging; the other vet didn't have the machines. On Friday they wanted us to wait the weekend so as to book us with their contracted mobile imaging specialist sometime the following week. I sought out a facility with on-site imaging for answers sooner than later.... read more

I wish I could recall the names of everyone working Thursday 10/01/2015 but after the news I received all I could think about was my beloved dog Frankie and her test results. First, I called last minute that day at 10:30am I was told they were booked but after hearing her symptoms they said they could make time and squeeze her in at noon. I got there 15 minutes early & the moment I walked in I felt they genuinely cared about not only my dog but me as well. I would like to go more into detail, but everything is still fresh an... read more

Dr. LaFave and staff are awesome and the quality of service is sincere and the best. I recently added puppy Charlie (5 month old Yorkie mix) to the family. I'm still convinced one of Charlie's parents is a German Shepard because he's already 9 lbs. and no where near over weight. For the past 3-4 years I've entrusted the car of my cat Nemo to Dr LaFave. So now I've added Charlie as a patient. Not sure Nemo appreciates my decision bringing Charlie home. Nemo's frequent side stares and meows (translation: are you f$&@ing seriou... read more

I would say up to this point, I was happy. However, they are over priced. I had been taking my pets here for years. I was beside myself after spending hundreds of dollars in the past few weeks, that i was denied a payment plan. The receptionist's have always been nice and tried to help. My Dog may have to have an upcoming surgery, I figured I would see my options. The Manager stated they are not offering payment plans. I felt that is not very sympathetic on his or her part.
