Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

I brought my dog here and we were unable to fix the issue at first then when I returned the second time there was some confusion about what the charge was going to be. Matthew was very helpful and polite and Jessica took care of the minor issue very quickly. This will be our go to vet from now on. Thank you! Beautiful office with convenient location, (street parking available).
I was on the fence about this vet until I met Janina's Luciano. Really appreciate how we are attacking these allergies with natural methods instead of going straight to antibiotics!
We have six cats of our own, plus my mother-in-law's two cats, plus feral cats in our backyard, and we foster cats and kittens. No matter which cat they see, the vets (and we've seen five of the six vets at various times) are skilled and compassionate. They lavish the same care and attention to a feral cat as they do to a pampered pet. We brought in a litter of four kittens when one of them developed alarming symptoms overnight. It turns out they had panleukopenia (they were rescued from the streets of Pilsen) and two of the... read more
I just left there from an appointment on Monday night and received a follow up call on Tuesday morning to ask how my dog/patient is doing! They are very attentive to his needs and amazing at explaining what I should be doing to remedy any issues. I live close to here so it's easy to pick this place but I'd recommend them to anyone in Chicago!
My pets are everything to me and Dr. Jacobs is the only vet I have ever fully trusted. She was my first vet almost 13 years ago at another animal hospital right up until I moved away from Chicago. When I came back, imagine my joy upon finding out she opened her own veterinary care hospital. Dr. Jacobs is smart, thorough, honest and caring. She is not an alarmist but always tells like it is. I cannot recommend her enough. Her staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful. The facility is state of the art and always spotless. ... read more
Even though we moved further away from Metro Vet, we continue to go because they are by far the best vet we have found in Chicago. When we go, the vet always remembers our dog and his history. They are knowledgable about diagnostics (they found he had meningitis 2 years ago when three other vets failed to). When we come in, they know our dogs' history and treat him based on this. They are open late, a huge plus for those of us who work during the day! They also have long weekend hours.
I just left the place feeling very frustrated and confuse. Needed to take my dog in because I found blood in her poop and she haven't been eating well in the past few days. So I took her poop sample for analysis and try to get a vet to see her. During the car ride my dog started salivating a lot. What really scared me once she is just a four months Pomeranian puppy. The people at the reception was helpless. She said I couldn't get my dog check in, not even as an emergency appointment. But I could come around 630pm as a walk ... read more
Love, love love this clinic. Docs are truly caring and the amount of time they spend with parents is phenomenal. Dr. Balser (Veronica), is amazing.
Took my orange tabby Luna to a check up for some burns that she had or her tail and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff is really friendly and helpful so that is a plus (costumer service is very important for me). There is free parking on the back and it is easy to find it. I really loved it because the day after the check up they called me to ask if Luna was doing fine and if there was any complications to take her back immediately. I really recommend this place.
