Metropolitan Veterinary Center was established in 2012 by Dr. Kjerstin Jacobs. She founded the practice based on her observation that there was an unmet need for high-quality, reasonably priced medical and surgical care for Chicago’s beloved pets, not only on weekdays but on weekends and late evenings as well.

Let me start out by saying that I am extremely particular about anyone that treats, grooms, or provides any services for my 13 year old poodle Bella. have been taking Bella to MVC for approximately 5+ years. At that time it was only Dr. LaFave and Dr. Jacobs who I cannot say enough about. They are truly caring, compassionate and gentle with Bella who is petrified of going to the vet. The office is spotlessly clean, conveniently located and has a free parking lot which is a plus for the area. Their office hours are fantastic... read more
Got right in for an unexpected problem with my pet. Metro vet is fast, clean and very reasonable. They always go over all possible options without pressure. Thanks again for the help.
This was our first visit to Metropolitan Veterinary Center and it was great. It came highly recommended by friends of ours and they did not disappoint. Our dog had a bad eye infection and they treated us and our dog really well. Will definitely go back for his regular check ups and any other emergencies.
I had a sick kitty and needed to be seen on an emergency basis and they were very up front with me and kind and expedient. They treated him efficiently and were very up front about pricing, which was moderate compared to quotes I'd gotten from other veterinarians in my neighborhood. The veterinarian even walked me through his x ray step by step. Good people.
Best place in the South Loop to take your pet! After comparison of another veterinary hospital in the area I can assure you the quality of care and capability of these amazing veterinarians is far superior. You can't beat the hours either.. 7am to 10pm every day!!
I brought my kitty here at the recommendation of my usual vet when my cat was sick and my usual vet was all booked up. The treatment was fine and my cat improved, but the personality of the vet was a real turn off--so condescending and judgmental. I had just nursed another cat through a slow decline because of lymphoma that eventually took his life, so when cat number 2 began to seem poorly soon after I initially chalked it up to grief about losing his friend and waited a week before taking him to the vet. That was a mistake... read more
I am not one to do this, but since I left on Thursday last week, I can't stop thinking about the way I was treated. The assistants and desk clerks are wonderful, and I don't have a bad thing to say. I can say they have true compassion for animals and you can tell they love their work. The doctor, however, made me feel like I was the most terrible human and dog mom ever, and I refuse to ever go back. There is a very condescending tone, and she spoke to me as if I was a complete idiot. I'm an assistant principal in CPS and in ... read more
We have had one bad experience here where they over vaccinated our dog at no fault but their own; however, they took full accountability and paid for future vaccines and exams... they've been nothing but wonderful since. We have two dogs and one who is constantly ill and they take great care of our girls.
My dog was attacked as we walked in the front doors. Staff did little to stop the other dog from gouging my dog's head. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it myself.
