La Cumbre Animal Hospital - also fondly referred to as LCAH - was founded by Dr. Francis Knoop in 1959. Dr. Knoop was visiting the Durbiano Dairy farm located where La Cumbre Plaza stands now when he noticed a triangular piece of land at the intersection of La Cumbre Road and La Cumbre Lane. At the time, Five Points Shopping Center was just being designed and built. Dr. Knoop thought it was a good place for his veterinary hospital.

RecommendedI've been taking our dogs to La Cumbre Animal Hospital for decades and would NEVER take them ANYWHERE else. If I had to move out of Santa Barbara for some reason, I'd still travel however long it would take to bring my dogs here. The entire staff treats my dogs like they are their own. Dr. T is the best! He took the time to explain the health problems that my cat has and gave me options as to which treatments I could choose. I really appreciate him and the great care provided by LCAH.

Ami is a pandemic puppy, born in June 2020. Even during the most restrictive parts of the pandemic, the LCAH team was competent and caring. Ami enjoyed her puppy visits, her spay went well, and the times when she has had to be squeezed into the hospital’s emergency schedule, her injuries have been addressed competently and efficaciously. I appreciate the efforts the staff takes to address my concerns, and charges have always been fair and very competitive.

Super helpful staff and very friendly. Dr. Kuesis has been amazing since we met her with our first bulldog almost 5 years ago!! When we had to see a specialist she helped us and worked with the specialist to get the best care for our little guy! Thank you LCAH!
