No word could express how much I would appreciate the professionals at Helping Hand Vet Surgery (HHVS) for saving my fur baby (Coco's) life. I would like specially to extend my appreciation from my deep heart to Dr. Kristen Talbott and her wonderful team members (Ms. Lini. and Ms. Kristen, I hope I did not spell your names wrong and forgive me if I do) for your dedication, professional, efficiency, and kindness.
My baby suddenly started throwing up on last Wednesday night. After we took her to ER on Thursday and got the medicine for preventing vomiting, she did stop vomiting but refused to eat and drink anything. On Friday night, we had to take her back to ER for an X-ray. Even though no foreign material was identified there was a strong concern about GI tract obstruction and an ultrasound was needed to confirm. When I planned to take Coco back for ultrasound on Monday, I started looking around the places for a potential surgery. Through our next door neighbor website, I found HHVS and went through different websites to know better about it. The more I read, the more I hope that Coco could get the surgery at HHVS.
In the early Monday morning when we headed an ultrasound, I called HHVS to tell Coco’s situation. The front desk lady asked me to email them Coco's medical summary so Doctor could look at it, when we were waiting the ultrasound. It took the whole day to get an ultrasound. However during the lunch time, I got a phone call from Kristen at HHVS to follow up the ultrasound status for potential surgery in the afternoon. I was quite surprised because most places you sent the information and won’t expect to get a feedback in such a short time unless you follow up. The ultrasound result finally came out at 4:30 pm, and there was an obstruction in her GI tract. A surgery was needed to take it out. The facility provided the estimation for the surgery price range which was too high for me to afford. I immediately called HHVS. They picked up the phone and asked me to forward the ultrasound result so that the doctor could look at it. I did not expect too much, because it was already 5:15 pm and they were about to close. To my surprise, after 15 minutes later, they called me back and informed me that the doctor did look the ultrasound result and arranged a surgery at the noon on the second day. I could not image how efficient they are. I was also informed that the flat price rate for this type surgery is $1290 all included no matter how complicated the surgery would be. This was half or even one third of the price I was quoted from another facility.
Coco was admitted to HHVS at noon on Tuesday. We waited outside parking lot. It passed 5:30 pm when they were supposed to close. We did not hear anything untill 9:00 pm when it was totally dark outside, Dr. Talbott came out from the building with a plastic bag in her hand containing a big peach pit. She nicely explained to me that this pit was identified in the proximal jejunum. It was very big and damaged Coco's section of bowel. The section of bowel containing peach pit exteriorized and resected. The surgery was quite complicated. She even thanked us for patiently waiting outside, even though they did all excellent work to save Coco. Shortly after she went back, I got the phone call from nurse Lini to provide very comprehensive and detailed discharge instructions. A few minutes later, Coco was brought back and she was already awake. They also handed out the medicines for pain management and antibiotic as well as a plastic e-collar. Later when I had the time to look the discharge documents, I noticed that there were at least extra $500-600 service charges they provided during the surgery but all were included in this flat rate.
Coco was transferred to a post-surgery care facility for 24 hours after the surgery. She did very well and was brought home last night.
Again, thank you, Helping Hands Vet doctors and staff members. Because of you, my baby is saved.|
